In Universal's Mystery Men, a motley group of "superheroes" battle evil, and the real mystery is what, if any, special abilities these guys and girls possess. But there is no mystery surrounding the enjoyment-enhancing abilities of the feature-filled DVD of the film. The movie contains an all-star cast, including Ben Stiller, William H. Macy, Janeane Garofalo, Hank Azaria, and Geoffrey Rush. The DVD, which presents the movie in a widescreen format in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound, contains an all-star list of special features. These include commentary by director Kinka Usher, who seems most delighted at having directed this movie, a feature about locations, deleted scenes, and musical highlights. There are also production notes, special DVD-ROM features, and an explanation of the Mystery Men comic book characters. The only mystery with this DVD is how many different ways a viewer can delight in its special features.

This was a cool movie. It had very goofy jokes in it and the cast was awesome. It is a rare action comedy with alternative humor. I liked it.

The key to appreciating Mystery Men is in how you approach it. Come in expecting a serious, Academy Award worthy performance and you'll go away angry and disgusted. But if you have a sense of humor, a taste for ironic farce, and a keen appreciation of satire, Mystery Men is an amusing and satisfying gem of a movie. It's a hilarious send-up of the conventional heroic myths, as well as a touching endorsement of the ordinary heroics of just being yourself.

This movie is one of those wacky funny laugh way too much movies. The actors are great. The parts they play are totally ridiculous but they pull it of. Watch it for the fun of it. Not for anyone looking for an Oscar contending movie.

This movie is not going to win any Academy Awards, but your not going into it thinking it is. This movie has some of the most classic characters and funny lines. This movie reminds me of playing superhero when I was kid. Go into the movie looking for a good time and you will. Worth seeing!

This is one of those movies that will separate those with a nerdy/weird personality and sense of humor from those who have a more mainstream bent. In other words, I think you will either totally love or completely hate this movie, nothing inbetween. I totally loved it! Blue Raja is my new favorite hero. I think the main message in this movie is that even those who may be very different from the 'norm' and rejected by others can hone their unique talents, excel at their craft, and discover that self-esteem can be much more valuable than the fleeting/disingenuous esteem often bestowed on us by other people.

This comedy of superheroes is about ordinary people who have a special talent to use to battle crime with catchy names and having to help another known superhero captured by a villian which backfires and having to stop the villian anyway.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I cannot believe that the previous review was written by someone that has actually seen the movie. It was through sheer morbid curiosity that I watched this movie in its entirety.

All the other reviews have pretty much given you the plot. My favorite character was the Blue Rajah. No, wait! The Bowler! No... I guess I like them all. Anyway, it was a great movie. Sure it's not gonna win the oscar award, but what did you expect?

This could've been such a dud, even with this cast. Instead, it's a near perfect thing, a laugh out loud feel good show. Great performances (from the most mixed bag cast I've ever seen), sensational design, perfect pacing, terrific music (but beware, the original soundtrack CD includes none of Stephen Warbeck's great score.) Even the extras on the DVD are superior--Kinka Usher's commentary really adds something. I hope I don't wear out my copy.

This is a great movie and you must see it. Seven non-superheroes must save the world. Captain Amazing, the protecter of a future city, is kiddnapped. A group of superheroes must get more people to help rescue the superhero. The group goes through comecal events to save him. It is funny throughout the film.

This film is a fine example of how to waste talent and charge people to see it. The premise was great, but the writing is a flop of Grade A proportions. Not even the most talented actors could bring this one off. ''Mystery Men'' is not worth owning, renting, copying or asking anyone about it.
