In the brief first season of this action-packed drama, Miami Vice veteran Don Johnson stars as Nash Bridges, a charming, street-smart inspector for San Francisco's elite Special Investigations Unit. Rather than the sinewy Ferraris that he tooled around in back in Miami, Johnson goes retro on the streets of San Fran, keeping it real behind the wheel of a yellow 1971 Barracuda. He still goes undercover, tracking down the city's most vile criminals, from drug dealers to smugglers to the Russian mob. Never far behind is Nash's loyal partner, Joe Dominguez (Cheech Marin), a retired cop who is doubly obsessed with solving crimes and getting rich quick, a weakness that always seems to get the two of them into hot water. Rounding out the group are Jeff Perry as Officer Harvey Leek and Jaime P. Gomez as Nash's young protégé, Evan Cortez. A thrilling police drama full of humor, mystery, and intriguing criminal investigations, Nash Bridges debuts on DVD in a package that includes interviews, audio commentaries, and more. The 8 episodes of Season 1 aired on CBS in 1996.

NASH BRIDGES-- FINALLY ON DVD!!! I've waited 7 long years for this, since the sad, sad day when the series came to a close in 2001 after 5 hilarious, action-packed seasons. As a Miami Vice fan, I can say with a purely unbiased mind, that THIS was Don Johnson at his FINEST. Brilliantly executed, Don portrays the character of Inspector Nash Bridges, of the San Francisco Special Investigations Unit, with such sharp wit, an incisive eye for the criminal mind, and perfect comedic timing. He far outshines his role as Sonny Crockett on MV. A newly sober Johnson stepped into multiple roles as lead actor, co-executive producer/director/writer, clearly with a fresh mind and vision for this character. Gone are the days of the brooding Sonny Crockett. Nash is a vital, active character with only a mildly questionable background, and a dedication to his work, his teenage daughter, and his aging, diminishing, but strong-willed father. Nash rumbles and revs up and down the hills of the San Francisco streets with his trademark yellow '70 'Cuda chasing bad guys, puttin' "bubbas" in their place, and still finds time to romance a lady or two. Expertly placed is Cheech Marin, as his sidekick & partner, and comedic foil, Joe Dominguez. Stylistically, Don has never looked better, performed better, or contributed better to a production. The writing of this series is absolutely SUPERB-- PERFECTION!! If you have a thirst for smart and sassy comedy, with a spice of fast-paced cop-action, then this is the show for you!
First let me say to LadyWriter. That is the best review I have ever read. I agree with every word said. Don Johnson is a talent beyond description. He can do everything. He does everything well. I am counting the days for Season 2. I miss him so much on TV. I hope he is developing a new series as we speak. Nash Bridges is the best. It is fun and so entertain- ing. I have enjoyed Season 1 but didn't remember that it was so short. Listen to the features. It is so neat to hear Don describe the setting. Why it was picked. The color of the wardrobe. Driving that car and doing dialogue is fascinating. Love everything the master does.
