Barnes & Noble - Ed Hulse
Television veteran Donald P. Bellisario -- whose extraordinary hit list includes Kojak, Magnum P.I., Quantum Leap, and many others -- added this excellent crime drama to his resume in the fall of 2003. The NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is charged with investigating all crimes involving Navy and Marine Corps personnel, regardless of rank or position, which yields a series that combines elements of TV giants CSI, Law & Order, and, not surprisingly, Bellisario’s own JAG. The show follows a special team, headed by Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), that operates outside of the military chain of command. A skilled investigator and tough interrogator, Gibbs leads a unit that includes street-smart former homicide detective Anthony Dinozzo (Michael Weatherly), offbeat forensic scientist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), and experienced physician Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum). During Season 1, another member -- computer expert Tim McGee (Sean Murray) -- is added to the team. And, of course, there's Secret Service agent Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander), who first appears in the suspenseful "Yankee White," helping Gibbs and the others investigate the mysterious death of a naval commander aboard Air Force One. In another excellent episode, "Bête Noire," a terrorist (Rudolf Martin) infiltrates the base and takes several hostages -- including Ducky and Caitlin. That same character returns in the superb season finale, "Reveille," this time plotting to assassinate the president.

Just wanted to let prospective buyers know, I ordered this season and season two, two weeks ago, and it was supposed to arrive on December 6. Well, a few days after I ordered I noticed it still hadn't shipped, eventually, B&N sent me a notice on December 5th that there was an unexpected delay in the shipping, and that it would ship sometime this week. As of today, Dec. 8, I've gotten an email that basically said they have no idea when it's going to be shipped, sometime in the next "30 days." So, I'd advise ignoring the "this item usually ships within 24 hours" B&N is claiming for seasons one and two, just FYI.

The six small tabs in the center you push on in order to release the DVD from the case were broken upon purchase. One would think that you are going to buy a cd from a major company like CBS and Paramount, the case would hold up. Although the store gave no issues on returning and exchanging for a new one, they did fail to call me when the replacement arrived at their store.

I like these kinds of TV programs and there is a lot of interaction between the characters as they solve the crimes.

Love NCIS...like the theme song, actors, and story lines. Story lines span from comedy to drama to mystery. I find it educational because I like learning about this kind of stuff...the "whodunit" part of it along with the medical and technological part. Trust it....????

AWESOME Series ! All actors' characters mesh well together and to have veterans' Mark Harmon and David McCallum on this show is a treat ! To also have seen several interviews w/ each cast members and to see how hard they all work to make this series a success just goes to show it's paying off !

NCIS season 1 is a great drama, humor and great chemistry between all the characters. They play off each other with such ease. You can tell they must of had a great time performing the opening season. I have been a great fan of NCIS for many years now. I retired from the Army. It is great to own and watch over and over again without commercials. Plus the chance to catch things I didn't catch the first time on television. Plus many thanks to Barnes & Nobel, to offer season 1 & 2 at such a great low price, when I ordered it. I never seen it cheaper in stores or anywhere online.

NCIS is the best ! Way better than all of those CSI' shows better than Law & Order and etc.. All actors are awesome & the writing for each episode just gets better with each season.

This is the set to learn and double check the origins of the characters of NCIS and their coalescence into those friends we have grown to know, puzzle over, admire, desire, despise, revise, and/or love. The first few episodes are quite interesting as nuances of the "Founding Four" (Gibbs, Ducky, DiNozzo, and Abby) are discovered and established, absorbing the observant eye and steady hand of new agent Kate, soon followed by the perfectly executed mission of the creation of young "probie" McGee for creator Don Bellisario's stepson (Sometimes its nepotism, sometimes you're just brilliant). Extras aren't overwhelming in quantity, but spot on in value, especially the segments dedicated to the members and agency of the real NCIS.

It's awesome! I love it! It's fun and the cast is great! I could watch it everyday! And, plus, Michael Wheatherly is so sweet, :)))))))..... you must watch it! It's the best.. P.S. Without Sasha Alexander is not the same:(( Enjoy!

Over the years plot lines have come and gone but the core of the story remains true to it's beginning. A fine ensemble cast, great writing and always entertaining.

It's fantastic, but I don't find the Special Features? Maybe because it's in Dutch? I don't now.
