After waiting for 43 years, the patience of long-suffering fans in the Gulf Coast region was finally rewarded. The New Orleans Saints, long the symbol of football futility, enjoyed the greatest year in franchise history. They posted the team’s best-ever regular-season record, then earned their first-ever trip to the Super Bowl. The Saints then completed a storybook finish by upsetting the favored Colts to claim their first Vince Lombardi Trophy. Relive all the thrilling moments of the 2009 season, from opening day right through their triumph in Miami, with action from every regular-season and playoff game -- the cliffhangers, comebacks and unforgettable moments. Hear all the sideline sound, player and coaches wires, and locker room celebrations as the cameras and microphones of NFL Films recapture the thrills and drama of the Saints super season - a championship that restored hope and pride to the Crescent City.
Media-day interviews; the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show; post-game ceremonies; "Anthony Hargrove - A Player's Journey"
It is what it is but it is a LOT of fun. The DVD distills the Saints 2009 season and post-season into an eminently entertaining 75 minute package. After the obligatory nod to the earlier years of futility and a nod to Katrina, the DVD features plays from every game of the season. Plus there are the pre-game and sideline comments from players and coaches. Hearing Sean Payton telling his players, "I love this play" is too funny for words. It's all there including Heath Evans' tip-toe TD, Meachem's theft for a TD against Washington and Porter's two playoff/SB interceptions. Every true Saints fan should own this DVD.
Exciting clips from every Saints game (regular season and post-season) are contained in this DVD. You will actually hear some player's comments and Sean Peyton ask Drew if he likes a certain play. Relive the moment when Garrett Hartley kicked the 40-yard field goal that clenched the Saint's first NFC championship when they played against Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. Relive the moment that sealed the Super Bowl championship for the Saints as Tracy Porter intercepted Manning's throw (I believe the announcer's called it "jump into the route.") And best of all, recapture the moment with Drew Brees holding his son in the post-game celebration. The Saints made their first Super Bowl appearance in the history of their franchise in Super Bowl XLIV and they won it! Geaux Saints! In my opinion, this win by the Saints inspired not only New Orleans, but the whole state of Louisiana as well as the other Gulf Coast states. If you are a Saints fan, I highly recommend this DVD for your personal DVD library.
My WhoDat friend liked it, but was disappointed that it was highlights and not the whole game. Can't have everything, I guess.
What a way to relive the excitement of the New Orleans Saints first ever Super Bowl victory! Not only do you get to see the game itself but there are clips from each game during the whole season. This is a can't miss for any true Saints fan. You get player insight from the season along with all sorts of behind the scenes extras. As well as the games themselves, you get to watch the half-time show of the Super Bowl and post-game interviews & ceremonies. One of my favorite features is the microphones that capture the real game day moments on the field. It makes you feel like you are there living it with the team!
