Nights of Cabiria

The Oscar-winning Nights of Cabiria is a Cannes film that comes to DVD in its original black-and-white, monaural format. The DVD version includes a video interview with former Fellini assistant Dominique Delouche, an audio interview with the producer, original and re-released theatrical trailers, a brief and blurry excerpt (in Italian) from Fellini's The White Sheik, improved English subtitle translation, optional Italian- and English-dubbed tracks, and seven minutes of never-before-seen footage. Also included is a very slow-moving featurette, alternating text and movie scenes to describe how the film was restored from the original negative. The plastic case contains a glossy three-fold piece with an intro written by the director, as well as a chapter index.

This film is a gem. Giulietta Masina's performance is simply outstanding as is Fellini's direction. The film offers no wham-bam special effects just a simple story told with taste, delicacy and compassion. This one is not to be missed.

I was surfing the channels and came upon this movie not long after it started,so I missed the title and all other information. I was hypnotized! I didn't even like subtitled movies back then. The lighting of this black and white movie truly captured everything in life! The actress was SO REAL. I FELT AS THOUGH I WAS HER OR SHE WAS ME, thats how deep this movie draws you in. I have looked for this movie's title and info since I saw it 8 years ago. Now all I have to do is buy it. I doubt if enough people can truly appreciate this work of art as I did.I don't know much about art, BUT, I know what I like!

This is truly a wonderful movie. The only Fellini movie I've ever seen--and as I understand it, a departure from his usual. However, very naughty of you to give away the end of the movie!

Nights of Cabiria is probably the most underated film of Fellini. Giulietta performance in the stage scene where she is hypnotizes is one of the most artistic and emotional scene ever filmed. Sadly, we are all on that stage in the scene.
