Overview

Not Another Teen Movie

Former MTV executive Joel Gallen makes his feature directorial debut with this broad spoof of the popular teen comedy genre, lampooning dozens of movies including American Pie (1999), American Beauty (1999), Bring It On (2000), Clueless (1995), She's All That (1999), Road Trip (2000), Can't Hardly Wait (1998), 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), Never Been Kissed (1999), and even the teen films of an earlier era such as The Breakfast Club (1985). At the aptly titled "John Hughes High School," aspiring artist Janey Briggs (Chyler Leigh) is an outcast because of her plain, bespectacled looks and paint-splattered overalls. Football hero Jake Wyler (Chris Evans) makes a bet that he can transform Janey into a gorgeous prom queen, a wager he may come to regret as he discovers Janey's true inner beauty. As their relationship blossoms, several other characters are limned, including a Nasty Cheerleader (Jaime Pressly), a Token Black Guy (Deon Richmond), a Stupid Fat Guy (Ron Lester), an Obsessed Best Friend (Eric Jungmann), an Undercover Reporter (Beverly Polcyn), the Cruelest Girl in School (Mia Kirshner), a Cocky Blonde Guy (Eric Christian Olsen), and several others. A nod to the multiple films that inspired it, Not Another Teen Movie (2001) was originally to have been entitled "Ten Things I Hate About Clueless Road Trips When I Can't Hardly Wait to Be Kissed."

This movie is hillarious! It's some crazy good fun. But you know what makes this movie the greatest? Getting to see the Yellow Ranger's boobs. (Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy's Cerina Vincent) A great buy!

Jamie Briggs is the school nerd in overalls, a ponytail, and glasses. Zack Wiler, the most popular guy in school, makes a bet with his friends on the football team that he can turn Jamie into prom queen. His attempts to court her are just the beginning of this hilarious adventure through high school politics.

I can't help but laugh while watching this whacky movie!! I can totally relate because I knew most of the Movies they made fun of..especially the character of freddie Prinze Jr. in She's all that and Cruel intention(lolz!). Moreover, I didn't notice Molly Ringwald at the end of the movie..not after watching it for the second time..nice!!

This is a great flick from start to finish. Yes it's a spoof, but somehow it doesn't come off that way. Even though it's taking off so many movies, it has a really original bite to it. The jokes are at times (the majority of) low brow, but along with the acting are quite clever. ''Teen'' varies from other spoofs in that it doesn't merely ridicule the movies it's taking off, rather uses them for the basis for it's own original comedy. Whether you like it or not, it's a very well researched and written movie. The choice of characters, wardrobe, setting and the scenes it intends to spoof are all top notch. It's hard to pick a favourite from such an intentionally goodlooking and talented cast but I'd have to go with Austin, the cocky blonde guy. His smugness, lack of intelligence and basically the faces he pulls are hilarious. Jake too. The main attraction of this movie is the fact that you don't have to have seen all the movies ''teen'' spoofs to enjoy it. It plays well as a spoof and just as well as a normal comedy. My favourite scenes include ''the breakfast club'' detention scene (can't explain why, it's just great), the ''Rudy'' and ''Varsity Blues'' football takeoff and cheerleading song (it's really clever). Other highlights include Malik the token black guy and Billy Bob, I mean Reggie Ray. Who ever came up with that deserves something. It cracks me up everytime I say it. Good on Billy Bob for actually spoofing himself, not many people would. Also keep your eyes and ears open for a few littles classic lines from Austin at the beginning of certain scenes. You need the subtitles on to get them but they're gold! Plus look for a dude in the ''Loser'' hat in the football crowd. If you've seen all the movies ''Teen'' takes off you'll understand how clever it is. If you haven't youll laugh all the way through it anyway, promise!PS: Someone said it rips off clueless, I can't see it. If anyone can tell me in which seen it does this, please send as an email, appreciate it.

I realize this film was supposed to be tasteless but this was way beyond tasteless and crass -- and both my husband and I liked Me Myself and Irene which was tasteless but funny. I felt that a lot of the content was inappropriate for a ''teen movie'' -- as opposed to AutoFocus which I saw the night before (there was a LOT of nudity etc. in Auto Focus. It was probably not absolutely necessary to show all that nudity but it wasn¿t inappropriate for the films subject.) The very first scene in the film has the main female character ''unsheathing'' a 12 inch floral patterned vibrator and using it on herself when her family walks in to wish her happy birthday. I was amazed at the amount of incest ''humor'' in this movie. If the women aren't partially or totally nude, they are talking about sex like they're pornstars and one even talks about defecating on her sex partners. In my opinion, this movie could have been a really good, funny, somewhat intelligent parody about teen movies (and there are a few funny spots); but, the writers and directors couldn't decide if they wanted to make a teen parody movie or a porn movie.
