This reviewer had forgotten just how good the series The Odd Couple looked -- then he saw this four-disc set encompassing the complete Season Three of the program. After decades of cut and badly transferred syndication copies, it was refreshing to see the deep, solid colors of the original negatives finally re-captured. There are no frills or bonus materials on this set, just the 23 episodes, each of which gets a half-dozen chapter-markers. The full-screen (1.33-to-1) image is crisp and bright, and the sound is full and well-balanced. The restoration of sequences that were long cut (to increase the room for commercials in syndication) also restores certain incidental jokes and sight-gags that have been missing since the original network run of the series. The first disc features an annoying super-menu, requiring one to choose the actual disc menu (rather than a selection of CBS Video trailers), but at least the program menu allows one a "play all" optionm in addition to individual episode selections.

Odd Couple: the Third Season based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
THIS SEASON HAS MY PERSONAL FAVE EPISODE, WHERE FELIX WANTS TO BECOME A WRITER, LIKE OSCAR. THERE'S A SCENE THAT 'S BEEN CUT OUT FOR SYNDICATION, WEHRE WALLY COX READS A PARAGRAPH OF SOMETHING HE WROTE, WHICH IS KIND OF WILD, ALSO THE ENDING, WHERE OSCAR WRITES DOGGIE EPITAPH'S IS IN TACT -- THAT'S ALSO BEEN REMOVED FOR MORE COMMERCIALS. I'M VERY HAPPY THAT ALL THE EPISODES SEEM TO BE THE ORIGINAL, UN-EDITED VERSIONS. IT'S WELL WORTH THE MONEY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOME OLD - FASHIONED LAUGHS !
