I've read all about the Knights Templar but had no idea there were other factions, many of which pre-date the Templars. This film captures Malta and the history of a sacred order in a very captivating and thrilling way. You basically take a journey into the world at that time uncovering secrets that have been buried for hundreds of years.
The Knights of Malta seem to have been called by several different titles over the years, but what appears consistent from this documentary is that it was a secret society whose motives remained sinister and linked to the occult. Also discussed is the rise of the radical Catholic Church and the collapse of earlier Christian values and beliefs.
Here we go I thought yet another film or book about the Knights Templar. When I rented it from Netflix I was ready to pop it out within a few minutes fearing the worst. I never did pop it out, in fact I found it the most fascinating expose on secret orders I have ever seen. The author actually goes to the places he talks about and knows the subject matter extremely well. I have sense rented other DVDs by Gardiner and they are all great. If you are into conspiracy or secret societies, you need to get this one. Gardiner also has a DVD called Secret Societies which is killer too.
Before viewing this film, I had heard of the Knights Templar, but never the Knights of Malta. There are many similarities between the two orders, and this film does a great job of introducing the Knights of Malta and their history. If these orders are interesting to you, this is a must see.
