Overview

Original Sin

A lonely man's search for companionship soon takes him to dangerous and unexpected places in this erotically charged drama. Luis Antonio Vargas (Antonio Banderas) is a successful coffee salesman living in Cuba in the 1880s. Luis has had little luck finding love among the women of his native island, and he sends away to America for a mail-order bride. To his pleasant surprise, his fiancée from the United States, Julia Russell (Angelina Jolie), turns out to be not only beautiful but passionate and devoted. But Luis' happiness proves to be short-lived when he learns that Julia is not the person he imagined her to be, and detective Walter Downs (Thomas Jane) appears, trying to get to the bottom of Julia's mysterious past and possibly deadly secrets. Original Sin is based on the novel Waltz Into Darkness by Cornell Woolrich, which Francois Truffaut previously adapted for the screen as La Sirene du Mississippi.

Basically, you don't get to see the best of Jolie. Other than that, it's a good flick

With award wining stars ''Angelina Jolie'', and ''Antonio Banderis'', the film managed to create a stir among viewers. The stir however, involves mixed feelings. While some audiences found it to be romantic and spellbounding, the film wasn't able to reach the depth of its intentions or rise to the expectation of the book it is based upon, ''waltz into darkness''. After seeing the movie twice, I cannot help but feel that there were some important factors missing. I will be looking forward to reading the book. The filmmaker may have had an underlining tone that just wasn't conveyed strongly enough unlike his movie ''Gia,'' which was great. Maybe next time, he'll waltz his vision out of the darkness.

This movie tells the tale of romance, deception, murder, love and desperation as two individuals fall in love only to be scared and foiled. When Luis Vargas sends away to America for a wife, the last thing he expects is a apparently stunning, loyal and wonderful wife. However, soon into the marriage, he determines that his wife is not only who he thought she was but has a dangerous past. As they attempt to run from the danger, they must face death, deceit, love, depression and desperation. Will they make it, or will the forces striving to keep them apart succeed. This story of love, passion, deceit and death brought to you by Antonia Banderas and Angelina Jolie is powerful, sexy and emotionally exciting.

Attractive couple but movie becomes predictable. Antonio as usual is as passionate as ever.

I think Angelina Jolie is the most beautiful woman in the world, and was perfect for this part in the movie. She has this sexiness, yet mysterious look, perfect for the Julia Russell role in this movie. Banderas was also very good for this role, playing the innocent and helpless man Luis Vargas. I also suggest the soundtrack to this movie; the book is just as amazing. Whether you get the un-rated version or not, the movie is just the same. There is just more nudity. I love the movie, the soundtrack, the book, and of course Angelina Jolie!

this is a movie about someone's conscionce and trying to figure out what's the best thing to do in UR life. it's about making the worst of choices for the one U luv and living w/ it. Angelina plays a woman that's a mail order wife basically and marries the hottie Antonio Banderas but the thing is she usually does this most of the time to milk the husbands for their worth and then run off w/ her accomplice but she falls for our Antonio and decides to run like she had planned. fate catches up to her and leaves u w/ a surprise ending that makes u wonder if the old saying, if it's meant to be it's meant to be, is really as true as this movie makes it be. anythings possible. especially in this movie. LOVED IT!
