This is a remarkable interpretation of a remarkable book. The plot has, for the movies, been adjusted, but it doesn't matter. Tilda Swinton carries this movie with such effortlessness that you're pulled into the story and you don't question the odd time jumps. I don't know enough about magical realism to be sure I'm using the term correctly, but that's what it feels like. If Virginia Woolf had been living today, she might have been writing science fiction -- or Margaret Atwood's books.
