Outfoxed - Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism

While the Fox News cable network has promoted itself as a "fair and balanced" news outlet -- so much so that they've even trademarked the phrase -- not everyone believes that they're living up to their slogan, and this activist documentary by filmmaker Robert Greenwald takes a close look at the political perspective of Fox's coverage. Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism examines the right-wing slant of Fox News' reporting, as represented in stories the network chooses to cover and their shoehorning of editorial opinion into stories, revealed in interviews with former Fox employees and several noted journalists (including Walter Cronkite) who discuss the pro-conservative, anti-Democratic views of the channel's management and how they're manifested in their programming. The film also puts talk show host Bill O'Reilly under the microscope and offers potent examples of his frequently abrasive interviewing style. Production of Outfoxed was supported in part by the leftist political action network Moveon.org.

Finally, someone has decided to portray Fox News Network as the Republican Lap Dog that they are... by providing us, the viewer, with an alternate look as to what goes on behind the scenes at FNN before any show and by giving us a glimpse at the concept 'business before journalism', hopefully, the public will open their eyes to the simple fact that media bias exists. They actually admit that it's cheaper to have two people going at each other than to find 'real' news. And that Fox's slogan 'fair and balanced' actually means a tipped scale in their favor at all times.

I found this movie to be more poignant than Farenheit 911. It shows how the media, specifically FOX News can warp the views of so many americans. I find the points made here are more important than those in Farenheit 911 because it is very much the lies of the right wing media that allows and empowers the kind of behavior that is detailed in Moore's movie.

This documentary effectively points out all instances of FNC bias, and gives you an insight as to what is behind the sham, most notably the Murdoch ties to Ronald Reagan and the Bush family. It shows their techniques very well, and how FNC reporters (a la Bill O'Reilly) keep their shows right-wing bias, especially with telling liberals to 'shut up' while letting the neocons explain their ideas fully and with respect. I would recommend this film to anyone, regardless of political belief. It is a great value, and it effectively does what it promises to do: expose FNC. This film fully exposes the charade and joke that FNC is. It does it so well, it may force their current fans to admit that their favourite news channel is anything but 'Fair and Balanced.' "with funding from moveon.org," which is a far left wing organisation. They have no problems with what NBC, CBS, CNN, ABC reports because they are also left wing. But Fox that may seem right wing only because they aren't ultra left like the others. Since I have started watching Fox, I at first felt they were biased. After watching for years, and comparing to what others were reporting, I now know Fox is the only one REPORTING the news, and not REPEATING what others with an agenda want the public to hear. This docucommentary is a joke and biased from the start.
