Overview

Pearl Harbor

Ben Affleck and Kate Beckinsale are war-torn lovers in director Michael Bay's epic reenactment of the 1941 tragedy Pearl Harbor. Buena Vista has done a great job on this 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer (spread over two DVDs). All aspects of this picture look great, including even colors, dark black levels, and natural-looking fleshtones. Aside of a small amount of edge enhancement during one scene, this is a fine-looking transfer that should please fans. The audio is presented in DTS 5.1 Surround, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English and French, as well as an English 2.0 soundtrack produced for those listening with headphones. The Dolby 5.1 and DTS soundtracks are very full, featuring continuous use of surround sounds throughout the entire film. Bombs and explosions rocket around the viewer through most of the film's running time. All aspects of the dialogue, music, and effects are distortion-free. Also included on this disc are English subtitles. This two-disc Pearl Harbor set, while not jam-packed, includes a few well-produced extra features. Two documentaries, "Journey to the Screen: The Making of Pearl Harbor" and "Unsung Heroes of Pearl Harbor," are both extensive and very informative. The first documentary focuses on the making of the film, which includes interviews with stars Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and most of the main crew. The second feature takes a look at the real Pearl Harbor and includes interviews with survivors from that awful day. The second documentary is easily the more impressive and moving of the two. Finally, there is a music video by Faith Hill for the hit song "There You'll Be," a short promo for National Geographic: Beyond the Movie -- Pearl Harbor, as well as a teaser and trailer for Pearl Harbor. This is a nice, if insubstantial, DVD edition of Pearl Harbor.

This movie was one of the best movies that i have ever seen! I found it sad that Danny had to die in the end right when he was going to be a father. This movie also made me cry. I think that Josh Hartnett and Ben Affleck acted really well and i really enjoyed this movie just as well as i enjoyed titanic. Do not listen to the critics they should have given this movie perfect stars. It was the best!

Thank you Michael Bay for telling the true story of Pearl Harbor. These Men were heroes and sooo good looking! I had no idea all those things happened! Those love stories never make it into the history books. It's great to see a totally fact based account of our greatest moments finally make it to the big screen. And it's no wonder we, once again, have Michael Bay to thank! He is a total genius! God Bless You Michael Bay! Now I know the real history of Pearl Harbor!

My opinion on this movie is that they have a good love story. It was good by how the movie was about a war but also with a love story to it. The story was really interesting and it grabbed me and got me watching the whole thing. It made me wonder what was going to happen next. At the end I didn¿t expect that tragedy after the war to happen. It gets me excited even if I watched it over a million times. Josh Hartnett is one of my favorite actors. He is good at acting. But that¿s not the point. I love this movie. This is my favorite movie besides Goofy Movie. =)

I thoroughly enjoyed watching ''Pearl Harbor.'' It was a story of the many lives affected by the Japanese run disaster. It included romance, friendship, hardship, war, and death. It really looked into what was actually going on in peoples' lives in the months before, during, after the actual attack. The actors in the movie did a marvelous job becoming their characters and kept me intrigued during the entire movie. The love story was bittersweet, keeping me on my toes until the final ending. The fighting scenes were so realistic, they actually took me back in time to view the suffering and courage that took place at Pearl Harbor. This movie is a wonderful insight to the events that surrounded Pearl Harbor.

This movie, while being fun and sweet, really does portray what it might have been like in the real day. I believe the love, war, and death really brought out the actors ability to play roles that would be very hard to play. They (Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, Alec Baldwin, James King, Cuba Gooding Jr., Tom Sizemore...) all did an excellent job. Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckhimer made another outstanding movie! SEE THIS MOVIE, and fall in love with it just like I did!

Many who haven't seen Pearl Harbor may think that it will be a classic war film, but the truth is that they wrong. The film is a classic day time soap opera using an historical tragedy has a means of holding the loose plot together. But still a major part of the film, the visual effects are great. But that is all there is to offer. The acting is below average and the plot is below sea level. But still as repeated, this film does feature some good visual effects.

My favorite movie ever! the romance the heart break the action! This movie has a lot of character! With amazing actors actresses and a finominal movie of thet early sunday morning when we were attached by the Japanese. I could feel the drama very strongly from begining to end!

I just purchased the DVD and watched it yesterday with my husband and we were mesmerised by this film! When it was over, we could hardly believe how long it was. The action and continuity is captivating, the cast is amazing. I think this a film to be placed on the shelf with all the greatest epics to be enjoyed only when you have the complete time and attention to give only to this film. It is an inspiring story, a reminder of what America will do when ''the gloves come off.'' If you collect films, your library is incomplete without this picture! The extra features are great, very informative and sympathetic. I'm actually considering visiting Hawaii just to pay my respects at the memorials.

This movie had my attention from beginning to end. Danny (played by Josh Hartnett) was my favorite character. This is a movie I will watch over and over because of the beautiful love story between Danny and Evelyn. Also, the war scenes seemed so real and were very interesting. Excellent writers and excellent cast. Thank you for making this wonderful movie.

I find it interesting people get angry over this movie saying it's not realistic and doesn't follow the true events that happened at Pearl Harbor. To those I say this.. "IT'S A MOVIE!!!" The sheer purpose of a movie is to be entertained. If you want the true facts that happened, then read a history book or get a documentary from the History Channel. Michael Bay is known for creating action, larger than life characters. Heck.. 99% of Jerry Bruckheimer films consist of macho, over the top action packed movies.. James Cameron got alot of slack for making Titanic. Michael Bay is doing the same thing here. Creating a love story around an actual event. So... If you want to be entertained, watch this movie. If you want to know the true facts about what happened at Pearl Harbor, then visit your local library.

I LOVED this movie. I have a fascination with the culture of the 1940s. It was a different time and so seeing something like this was a great experience for me.

I loved this movie, it was a romantic love story and a tragedy all in one. The casting was done well, Josh Hartnett is so hot. The only thing that makes this film not 5 stare material is the fact that the totally hot, cute guy dies, Josh is so much better than ben!!!!!
