A soothing voice would begin every episode, "This is the continuing story of Peyton Place." But the soap opera stories that followed were anything but soothing. Extramarital affairs, unwed teen pregnancies, family betrayals, mental illness, and even murder were all lurking behind the storybook façade of this picture-perfect, centuries-old New England village and its citizens. The widow Constance MacKenzie (Dorothy Malone), her innocent daughter Allison (Mia Farrow), the wealthy but troubled Rodney Harrington (Ryan O’Neal) and others are revealed to be much more than they initially appear in these first 31 half-hour, black and white episodes, which aired on ABC from 1964-5.

Having seen so much of Ryan O'Neal in the press of late, it took me back in time to when I watched him on Peyton Place and I started to research to see if I could find it on DVD and low and behold Barnes & Noble had it. I enjoyed the first 31 episodes and am now patiently waiting for the second DVD. I hope Barnes & Noble will be able to continue providing the entire series, as I would like to collect it all. Thank you for providing this customer with a nice trip down memory lane!!
