Unfortunately this review has nothing to do with the content of this DVD.. since it won't play in my DVD player. Our DVD player is about 2.5 years old, and will not play the 'workout' sections of this DVD. I spoke to Gaiam (the manufacturer) and they used some special production techniques in this DVD (and in the Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss DVD) that are not compatible with all DVD players. And now I am having trouble returning it to B&N, so just be aware of this issue if you have an older DVD player.

I haven't done pilates in months, but found myself less than fulfilled after doing this video on level 2. All the other pilates videos and classes did show the beginner moves like this video, but I would only be challenged on level 3 due to the agonizingly slow pace of this video. This would be a great video for a beginner wanting to learn the basic moves and working up to other videos, but leaves much to be desired from someone wanting to feel they actually worked their muscles at the end.

This is DEFINITELY not the excercise for someone who likes something that is quick and exciting. Yes, I know Pilates isn't supposed to be fast, but after a half hour, this dvd starts to put me to sleep. Get either a 30 minute one, or get a Tae Bo dvd!

Still trying to shed the last stubborn but thankfully somewhat compacted 10-15lbs of weight gain--I thought I would try Pilates to bring variation to my workout routine. I was told Pilates was challenging. I personally found this far too easy. I didn't break a sweat. If you are a beginner you might like this program. You will have to watch it through to pick up the moves. This is for toning...weight loss? I don't know. Follow it with a good 20 minute walk. I'm going back to my Yoga. I have been practicing Rodney Yee's Power Yoga for a couple years now. My Yoga is far more challenging and I have a greater sense of completion for having done it. I will be doing my Power Yoga Total Body come morning.

I really like this title as well as yoga conditioning for weight loss. The pilates has helped quite a bit and suzanne deason is great! Ive gotten nice results and am doing this DVD twice a week. Every move is explained fully so it is not confusing and not so fast that you miss 4 moves while trying to figure one out. Excellent choice i reccomend this !!

I've been looking for ways to help my mom, who is growing older, and seems to be sitting a lot. We thought of Pilates, for strength training, and weight loss. I think this DVD is a good compliment to Tai Chi In A Chair, by Cindy Mason, which helps with stretching, and balance. Its good to combine them, strength and balance. Thanks! Happy Health Lea

I have many Yoga and Pilates DVD's in my library. This is a great addition. I started with Winsor Pilates and wanted an additional program; this is great balance as the instructor's style is different and I have learned some new exercises. The only aspect (which is minor) that I don't like as well is that the instructor voice is taped over as opposed to her speaking during the exercises.

The video is the same no matter how many times you watch it ... so you are always going slowly through some of the basics, plus she is not great (ok, but not great) about reminding you of key elements, like which muscles should be activated. In addition I found myself watching the video rather than concentrating on my own body.

I admit I didn't follow the steps exactly, but I have actully GAINED weight since starting this program. I am now on the Atkins diet and let me tell you. with the exception of my head, my body is slimming nicely. Pilates will work for some(my mother has lost some well needed weight on Pilates) but it just doesn't work for me.

This is a soothing, slower-paced workout, with inspirational commentary on weight-loss techniques. Deason gives short breaks in between moves designed for ''larger bodies,'' as the pamphlet says. Rather than being extra-challenging for weight loss, this is a basic pilates workout to create a good foundation (of muscles!) for harder classes or tapes.

I agree wholeheartedly with the 2/02 review. After doing this tape for a while, I tried the Winsor Pilates tape (which was not even remotely as thorough a workout as this one) and a Denise Austin tape (which I did not find to be at all relaxing -- too much equipment was needed and you are constantly getting up and down off the floor). You will see results with Pilates Conditioning for Weight Loss! The workout is a little long (60 min.), but it's worth it. It is also a great way to introduce yourself to pilates before you attend a live class.

I have tried so many different forms of exercise, and I always go back to Pilates, because it works the best. This is the best tape on Pilates I have ever seen. It's not a difficult workout but it is extremely thorough, and very well-though-out. It never brings you up to a peak and then crashes you, but instead you are guided graciously as in a Yoga class, and everything is coordinated through grounding of the abdomen and breath. After 5 workouts, I felt a big difference, and I looked different, no kidding. If your midsection is your problem area, or you want a very grounded, gentle but thorough program of exercise that you can do forever, this is the one!
