Overview

Places in the Heart

Robert Benton's rural drama Places in the Heart comes to DVD with a pair of transfers. The widescreen anamorphic transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1, and is preferable to the standard full-frame image. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Mono. English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, and Thai subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include theatrical trailers and production notes. The film looks great, making this disc worth a look, even if it is short on extras.

This is a time we must never forget. The story includes mystery, drama, and great courage. It is a wonderful classroom tool for teaching what racial prejudice looks like and how forgiveness changes lives. It is inspiring.
