Don't go into this looking for a "workout" This work is about healing your entire body from the inside out. The other reviewer was complaining about the explanation not being clear enough. I don't agree at all. The exercises are complicated at times, but that should be a given because the exercises are thousands of years old from a completely different culture than our own. With a little effort and patience, the exercises feel great and are easy to do. After completing this DVD, I felt charged with healing and balancing energy - like the well within had been filled. Really a special experience. Also the production value is extremely high for a workout video.

There are two discs in this dvd set. One disc is a documentary on the history and application of qigong and some of the benefits of its practice. The other disc is an instructional workout. I do admit I get impatient with all the introductory, mood setting delays that preface the actual 'workout'. The moves feel good to me, I like the stretching and bending moves that engage the back muscles. I like the workout disc overall, but unless you have done it enough to memorize the moves, the instruction is lacking. When bent forward with head down, one can't see that that instructors are standing back up into a back arch...and they don't bother to tell you. That kind of thing happens more than once.

The one major flaw is in the DVD, not the program. . The program has many sections, but this DVD doesn't have any chapter selection. So I can't skip right to a specific exercise segment. The program itself is very well done. Qigong is physically similar to Tai Chi and Yoga, and uses imagery to channel Chi during each movement. Warm ups and the basics are covered nicely. The main section demonstrates 18 different exercises. It encourages a viewer to choose one's own order, and to develop a personal style. Facial and body massages are also included. This was my introduction to Qigong, this stile suits me nicely.
