This is one of the most enjoyable fairy tale films that I have seen. Originally released in the late 80's as part of the famous Cannon Movie Tales series, this film does have many surprises. While not being exactly the same story that we all knew and loved as a child, it does hold up. And we find out that Red Riding Hood has a name- Linette. The plot does stay along the same Grimm storyline, but this time there is an evil Lord who has a servant that turns into the wolf, really a quite enjoyable addition to the story. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the songs get stuck in your head. Isabella Rosselinni is wonderful and genuine in her role as Linette's mother and Craig T. Nelson plays the dual role of the evil lord and Linette's father who has been lost and looking for his way home. Young Amelia Shankley is the perfect Red Riding Hood. She's young, mischevious and adventuresome. MGM has done a good job of bringing this film to DVD. The picture is clear and the sound is excellent. I hope MGM plans on releasing the rest of the Cannon Movie Tale series on DVD as these films are a wonderful addition to a film library. Highly Recommended!!!
