The living dead come to live via a popular video game in the horror-action flick Resident Evil. Columbia's work on this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer is nothing less than stunning. Sporting vivid colors, dark black levels, and even fleshtones, this picture appears to be as close to reference quality as one can get. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in both French and English. Much like the video portions of this disc, the soundtrack is near perfect. With rollicking explosions, creepy music supplied by shock rocker Marilyn Manson, and lots of squishy effects, this is a very aggressive and bombastic mix. Also included on the disc are English and French subtitles. The extra features on this special edition of the film should please any living dead aficionado. Starting off the disc is a commentary track by director Paul Anderson, producer Jeremy Bolt and stars Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez. This is a commentary that stresses more of a good time than in-depth info on the film. Five separate featurettes ("The Making of Resident Evil," "Scoring Resident Evil," "Set Design," "Costumes," and "Zombie Makeup Tests") are a nice, if brief, look into what it took to make the film. There are a multitude of interviews featured here including director Anderson, music composer Marco Beltrami, Marilyn Manson, and more. Some of these featurettes are very cool (the makeup tests on the actors are especially entertaining), while others offer only a slight look into the production of the movie. Also included on this disc are six theatrical trailers, a few bland filmographies on the cast and crew, some thin production notes, and a full-frame music video for a song by the group Slipknot.

I have seen movies that were based of video games but resident evil has to be the best yet. I own it on DVD and the special features are great. Hopefuly they make Resident Evil 2 soon cause i wanna see what is going to happen to that guy that got his arm slpit open by the licker near the end of the movie. well i know what is going to happen to him if they make a sequal to the the movie. The graphics where awsome in this movie and if the get the same guy for the sequal that did the graphics for the first one the sequal will be just as good.
I thought this movie was very good. who cares if it's not like the game, it's still good. yeah their special effects aren't the best, but the movie is still worth a check. yes they did put every monster out except for one, but it's still satifies me. In my opinion it's a break away from the game. It would have been better if they added more monsters, but like I said, it's still good. worth a rent
Watch this movie!!! Then watch Resident Evil Apocalypse, then Watch this movie again!!! it'll be even better tahn before!!!!!!!!!!! EXCELLENT!!!
The Resident Evil movie was in my opinion excellent for one exception, the licker. Unfortunatly the licker looked as digital in the film as it did in the game. However this didn't ruin the film, the zombies looked good (if you know what I mean) and the scene in the laser room was very cool. Looking forward to the sequel.
I love this movie, its my favorite.I am so glad they made the game into movies. And to any REsident EVil fan that doesn't like the movie, I just have to say how can you call yourself a fan of the game . To be a true fan you have to like the movie even if you think it is horrible.
Well I really liked the movie...but I didn't give this movie the last 2 stars for 2 reasons....1:I feel, along with many others, that this movie didn't do a very good job with following the guidelines of the resident evil games or books...and 2: I think they should have thrown a few more of Umbrella's twisted, mutated, experiments at the team....hopefully the next movie will be alot more satisfying....
This movie is awesome. The best part is the laser room where they get cut in half.
Resident Evil is the most sexiest, scariest and the dropdead ''Oh my god I think I'm gonna barf!'' coolest movie yet!!! I'm haapy and a little frighten at the fact Resident Evil has now been turned from a video game to a live movie!! Thanks a million!!!
Resident Evil is one of my favorite films because the storyline is great, the special effects are excellent, and the cast was phenomenal. I really loved the whole Special Ops thing. I first saw the movie 5 days ago, and I am still mad because Rain died. I don't think the sequel will be half as good without her somewhat thugish presence. Overall the movie was good, but I am VERY disguested.
The only creatures that looked scary was the licker and the zombie dogs, the zombies didn't look as real as the ones in the dead trilogy.
The best thing about Resident Evil is that it combines a great plot, jokes, scientific mumbo-jumbo, and action. Not only does it have these things, but it also combines them well. Also, the jokes come at just the right time, and though the effects aren't too good, the sets and transition from scene to scene is.
Resident Evil the movie is no doubt a tribute to the game series. It closely follows the game's story and even added a few twists for the veteran gamer. Zombies in this film have a new edge that old films do not give them, and since they threw in a good old Licker it makes it the most interesting film-of-a-game to date. I was surprised that they missed out a few vital elements that make Resident Evil what it is, which cost them a star. Overall- 'Watch it!'
THE MOVIE WAS GREAT AND I LOVED THE ENDING. I JUST HOPE THERE WILL JUST BE A RESIDENT EVIL 2 LIKE THE GAME.TOO BAD RAIN DIE AND THE WHOLE TEAM.
This movie is an amazing movie! The movie is a good action movie, that almost anyone can enjoy!
Th Resident Evil was awesome with the content, but i have one little thing to add. Where is Jill Valentine? Where is Chris Redfield? and the rest of all the S.T.A.R.S that went in to the mansion. It was an awesome movie but why would you want to add new characters to it like to team that went in was nothing like the team from the first game. I would also like to know where the big bad Tyrant is and why some say the antidote to the Tyrant-Virus(T-Virus) is the G-Virus because if anybody ever paid any attention to the second game the G-Virus was made by William Birkin as a more potent virus the mutated human cells at a much greater rate than the T-Virus does. Not only that but the plot in the game was much more intense than what they had in the movie because there was a much bigger traitor than there was in the movie. Albert Wesker had played a really big part in the first game as captian of the S.T.A.R.S team, but was also a big part of the plot i don't see why they wouldn't add him in along with Chris and Jill heck even add in Barry, Rebecca, and Brad because they were also survivers of the Arklay Mountains Incident. I just think they should of tried to stay true to the game not change chracters and some content.
This is a thriller, sudden shock, creepy scenes, and some pretty interesting stuff, (you'll know what i'm talking about after you witness the ''laser'' scene. If you have never heard of Resident Evil, you will still enjoy this, to me it's like a crazy horror film mixed with Swordfish. But if your a Resident Evil fan, BUY THIS NOW! It has some key trats you'll compare with the series, (eg. look at the name of the train), but also other things that will have you dropping your jaw, (but I don't want to give the coolest parts awat). So either way, pick this up, it rocks. The DVD has features which make it even better than just the excellent movie.
ok let me try to stop thinking of my girlfriend milla here and concintrate on the movie. and the movie was cool. i liked the game.
The action related to the games is the best. The story line meets perfectly with the main sorty line of the games and books. Definetly a must buy if you are a Resident Evil fan!
I've seen a lotta horror movies and they've been nothin'but lameiods. But this one is the ultimate #1''Oh my god I luv this show'' goriest movie yet!!! THANKS!!!!! P.S. I hope RESIDENT EVIL2 comes out soon and I do mean SOON!!!
This movie rocks my world. I am always in the mood to watch it. Finally a action flick that really kicks butt.
When I saw this title on the shelf of the video rental store, i thought it's about time to check it out. But first, I check the back of the video case to see reviews and etc. I read the info about the movie's plot and cast. One line said 'eye-poping special effects'. So I'm thinking, this will be pretty good. The results were disapointing. And I thought The Mummy Returs had the worst special effects. The special effects looked more like claymation. Try watching Chicken Run with Downsyndrome and get drunk. The story is different from the game, along with the characters. But this does not bother me. It's the special effects and a little bit of the storyline. Now, it's time to review House of the Dead and possibly get disapointed
Resident evil is an excellent movie which me and some other mates watched with me.One person hated it and said the zombies didn't look real! You can't get much more real than that.Great film.
This movie is terrible. I thought George A. Romero was supposed to direct this! Why was he off the project? Paul Anderson is a hack! He should have stuck to Mortal freakin Kombat. The actual video games are creepier! In fact, I stopped this movie and played Resident Evil Zero. And I had a great time.
I was really surprised that this movie had so little action in it after watching it. It was a decent movie, but certainly didn't meet my expectations.
this movie sucks the original video game was so much better yea it had pretty good special effects but out of it all the movie was bad
