I love this movie!!!! I like just about anything that has Kevin Costner. My only problem with this DVD is half way through the movie you have to flip the DVD over to watch the rest. That was WIERD!!!!

One of my favorite movies. Excellant soundtrack, tons of action and an epic story round this movie out into a fabulous tale. Loaded with extras as well as an additional few minutes to the film. Hook up your DTS and get prepared for a thrill ride.

Yes it is true Kevin Costner was not the right person for the role, however, the supporting cast makes it a film worth watching. It is also important to note that the addition of the Moor character, as well as differences in other characters, is all derived from the short-lived Robin of Sherwood series, which I HIGHLY recommend.

Best version of Robin Hood

This version of Robin Hood proves to be as good as the remake, Kevin Costner definitely made the perfect Robin for the film and I can see why, he shines in the way he speaks to masses making him the perfect leader! The feel of this movie is more fun than then the remake but with a hint of seriousness. The characters are different as well, Marion is the king's cousin while Robin is the son of Lord Locksley. The heart of the film was wonderful and the plot was very fun! Marion and Robin are very different yet the same! It is hilarious to see them banter with each other! The hilarious moments made the movie extremely watchable too! Check this out if you love the remake and to see Alan Rickman "Snape" from Harry Potter in one of his earlier roles!

My title says it all. The Errol Flynn one is a fine classic film, but this one really has all the aspects of a great modern historical drama. An all star cast, great music, exciting action, timeless themes, and dashing heroics are all present. Many people pan Costner's performance, but there are so many other fine actors that it doesn't matter either way. This movie is great and a must in your movie collection. The end cameo of a past Robin Hood doesn't hurt either. Buy this film!

This movie inspired me to become a Robin Hood fan. When I first saw it, I loved it: I liked the action sequences, 'realistic' costuming, sense of humor and creative new characters. I still like the movie, but since then, I've watched a variety of other Robin Hood films. Kevin Costner is by far the worst portrayal of Robin of them all. His accent is terrible (so terrible it that I think it inspired the parody 'Robin Hood: Men In Tights') and his character is so unlikable that we want to see him loose. Robin Hood fans have severely criticized this movie (I'm surprised there are not more bad reviews on this site). However, the classic Errol Flynn version really can't be compared to a 90's action-adventure movie. If you miss the quality classic films and don't like the newer special effects stuff you probably won't like this movie. Otherwise, I recommend the movie - just don't be too disappointed when Robin wins.

All I have to say is that this one cool movie. Once I started watching it, I was hooked. I liked the sense of humor that was in it. If you want to see a good movie, this is it.

In all honesty, Kevin Costner is one of the worst actor that I have ever seen on film. It really got to me that throughout that whole movie, he didn't have any kind of a British accent. Most of the other actors in the movie did a reasonable job of acting, but Costner ruined the whole film for me. The storyline was great. I liked the modern vision they put on the Robin Hood story. But we keep coming back to Costner, the one who can not act. I don't understand how he keeps making movies. The movie would have been a whole lot better if he wasn't in it!

If you want a little action set in historical times, or to see how Robin Hood is portrayed (in a realistic sense) then this would be a good Saturday night movie. It was little gory in some parts, and there was a lot of violence. People got run through with swords, people were hung, people were burned too. You get the picture. There were a lot of intense things going on so I would recommend not watching it unless you are 13. There is some sexual content and parents should be advised to watch the movie before your children because of some of the scenes, not only for the sexual content but for the violence too. I would give this movie two thumbs up. I have watched the movie 4-5 times because I have liked it so much. I would have watched it more by now but it is really long. Almost three hours. I would definitely recommend this movie but I am just warning you, do not watch it unless you are at least 13 because of some of the scenes.

I didn't know there was an extended version of Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves until I went to buy it. I love the added sequences featuring Alan Rickman and Mortiana the Witch. Alan Rickman was so good in the first version I saw and to have 12 extra minutes is Icing on the Cake. I guess I'm like a lot of people who wonder why Kevin Costner didn't get a dialect coach and use an English accent. Also there is a mistake concerning The Sheriff of Nottingham's clerk when he follows Mortiana's advice. Oops! It is still a wonderful movie.

I just kicked back and watched this movie recently, and in light of that and the fact that this is among one of my all time favorite movies, I decided that I would write a review of it in tribute to it. I have been watching this movie since I was in elementary school, and remains to be one of my all time favorite epics, along with titles like Braveheart, Gladiator, and Last of the Mohicans...just to name a few. It, Last of the Mohicans, and Braveheart in fact, are probably the 3 single original movies that got me really into epics...and there are many other great ones out there as well. I remember watching this with my mom a lot growing up, because this was one of her favorites as well. We watched this one about as frequently as we watched the original Star Wars movies and Indiana Jones movies...which was a lot! This movie was filmed pretty well for it's time, and the cast does a superb job. This movie is meant to portray more of the true story of Robin Hood. If you enjoy epics or anything with historical influence behind it, then definitely give this movie a watch if you have never seen it. It's a great one!

Costner as Robin Hood, as usual, was overly focused on emotions than on overall performance. Morgan Freeman, as usual, asserts his position as a great performer in whatever role he pursues. He outshines everybody, which makes the movie move more flowingly than just Costner in it. The score of the movie made dividends in a highly romanticized version of who Robin Hood was.

I enjoy this movie very much (at least once a month!). But I found Costner's acting very wooden and boring. But the Sherriff of Nottingham!!! The sole saving grace of the movie! Alan Rickman not only chews the scenery, he DEVOURS it! What a performance! The first time I watched it(and to this day), I was pulling for the Sherrif to kill Robin and get Maid Marion! Can't get enough of Rickman!I tend to fast forward to his parts! This movie turned me into an Alan Rickman NUT!
