Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Donald Liebenson
If you're looking for an all-Muppet knockoff of the 1987 hit Three Men and a Baby -- or its French forerunner, Three Men and a Cradle -- look elsewhere! Here, Sesame Street's beloved Baby Bear wrestles with his mother's "pwegnancy" and the prospect of the three bears becoming four. Comedic and heartwarming segments and songs convey Baby Bear's universal concerns about how a new sibling will change his family. Live-action footage of siblings at play should also help ease trepidations. From hospital preparations to the new arrival, a baby is "no teddy bear picnic," Baby Bear observes, but as his mother reassures, "There will always be enough love to go around." Sesame Street is all about family, and this thoughtful 52-minute program will be a comfort to all prospective big brothers and sisters.

This is a cute video and fun to watch, but I feel that they spend a little too much time on Baby Bear's fears about how much things will change when the new baby arrives. While eventually older siblings are going to need to deal with this issue, I'm not sure it needs to be discussed so much before the baby even comes. Maybe this video would be more useful after the baby comes and sibling is having issues.

This video was a godsend when we brought home our new baby. Our toddler was able to talk to us about what Baby Bear was going through and it helped her ease through the new transition. Not to mention that it was great for us to put it on while tending to the new baby's needs.
