Great movie about suffering, compassion, and redemption. Andy Lau is ruthless and greedy general Hou Jie who learns about compassion and forgiveness after he loses everything. After chasing a defeated warlord into a nearby Shaolin Temple, he disrupts the peace with guns and taunts their martial arts after he killing the warlord, only to return to the same temple to seek refuge brought on by his own misdeeds, where begins his spiritual transformation. Nicholas Tse plays his brother whose ambition is larger than his wisdom. Jackie Chan plays a cook looking for purpose and struggles with his decision to leave the temple, but in the end finds the courage he never knew he had.

i gave this movie a 3 stars just because jackie chan wasn't the main guy... it was more like Andy and Nicholas...andy was a general who changed sides and became a monk to the shaolin....nicholas was his right hand man who betrayed Andy and took over his General position and so on...the story is alright...not all that but like i said i was expecting Jackie to be the main guy....fights are just as good as shaolin fight style...if you like Andy lau or Nicholas tse, this is the movie for you....hope this was helpful to you....
