Ten years after the original show ended in 1969, Star Trek fans or Trekkies had been waited for the original cast and crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise to return on the big screen. Although Star Trek: The Motion Picture wasn't a blockbuster hit in 1979, it did bring back most of the original cast on the big screen. I was a bit disappointed that the Director's Edition wasn't included in this box set, but the original version was. After Star Trek: The Motion Picture, fans were wondering will there be a sequel. The answer was "Yes!" Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was better than the first film. They should had made this the first film instead of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Star Trek II didn't include the additional scene that was included in the last DVD, but it was restored and remastered for better picture and sound quality and High Definition. Star Trek III: The Search For Spock continues where Star Trek II left off and it was a good movie. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home was my favorite of the Star Trek movie and continues where Star Trek III left off. It was the best Star Trek film and the funniest movie ever. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier was the worst movie ever. The special effects and the scripts weren't that good. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country was a good film. The movie didn't included the additional scene that was included in the last DVD. Although this was supposed to be the final voyage of the original crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, that will have to wait till 2009 to get the original crew back on the big screen. This time the new Star Trek movie introduced the new actors playing Kirk, Spock, Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, Uhura, and Chekov.

Three of these, the best of them, are available separately: Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek: The Voyage Home and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (the first and last were directed by Nicholas Meyer, who injected a lot of value into the franchise). They'd come to not that much more than half the price of this, so you might want to go that route. The first film is known not to affectionately among fans as "Star Trek: The Slow Motion Picture" and if not as cringe-worthy as Star Trek: the Final Frontier is without doubt the most boring Star Trek picture every made. Star Trek: The Final Frontier is my candidate for worst Star Trek picture ever made. But then there's Search for Spock. I think that film makes this set worth the buy. You can't buy it elsewhere, and while not the best of the Treks, it's a worthy follow-up to Wrath of Khan with some moving moments--worth watching I think even for someone not a die-hard fan.

I had ordered this product under the impression I would be receiving DVDs, so I could watch them on my laptop. Alas, I got a Blu-Ray package instead. Still, I look forward to watching them!

I placed the order and was originally told it would take3 weeks BEFORE they would even ship it and then it would take the 8-10 days to get to me. When I followed up they found it was in stock so could ship right away - it didn't. The first shipping info they gave to me - was wrong - it was not with that carrier, and then they shippied USPS and didn't track it -"but if it's not there by Dec 20th contact your local postmaster to find it" Without tracking the local postmaster would not be able to find it either. The movies are were great but the DVD's had no extended scenes/boopers
