Moving at warp speed into DVD players is this sixth season of the fourth Star Trek television series, Star Trek: Voyager. This seven-disc set presents the season's 26 episodes with crystal clear 1:33:1 picture quality, and each has been given a booming Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound audio mix. The season finds many memorable episodes and guest stars, including Next Generation actors Marina Sirtis and Dwight Schultz returning as Deanna Troi and Reginald Barclay. The rest of the season finds the Voyager crew adopting more Borg on the ship in "Collective" and even has Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) sparring with wrestler The Rock in the wrestling-themed episode, "Tsunkatse." Disc seven finds the usual heaping helping of bonus features present on all of Paramount Home Video's Star Trek releases. "Braving the Unknown : Season Six" contains an overview of the entire season featuring new interviews from various members of the cast and crew. "Voyager Time Capsule : Chakotay" finds actor Robert Beltran reflecting on his seven years on the show as the character Commander Chakotay. "Guest Star Profile: Vaughn Armstrong" consists of interviews with veteran actor Vaughn Armstrong as he speaks about his various roles in almost every recent Star Trek series. "One Small Step : A Mars Encounter" goes in depth regarding the fascinating season six episode "One Small Step" and its observations about the planet Mars. A profile on the season's visual effects, a photo gallery, and several hidden Easter eggs round out this superb addition to any science fiction fan's DVD library.

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Ed Hulse
As the 1999-2000 season got underway, Voyager was the only surviving show in the Star Trek franchise, which resulted in an infusion of creative talent. Most fans regard Season 6 as uneven, but there are many exceptional installments among the 26 collected in this seven-disc box set. All of the principal players get multiple opportunities to strut their stuff in showcase episodes. The season opener, "Equinox," finds Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) pitted against another Starfleet commander, who is killing members of an alien race and using their bodies to generate fuel for his ship. "Barge of the Dead" focuses on B'Elanna Torres (Roxann Biggs-Dawson), who has a frightening but illuminating near-death experience. The holographic Doctor (Robert Picardo) takes center stage in "Tinker, Tenor, Soldier, Spy," an episode in which he modifies his program to allow daydreaming, only to have his subconscious ruminations disturbed by an alien spy who hacks into the program. Seven of Nine's (Jeri Ryan) appearances aren't as high-profile in this year's shows, but she figures prominently in "Child's Play," as the Voyager crew locates the parents of a Borg child to whom Seven has become attached. There's also some interesting "stunt casting" in Season 6: Former series regular Jennifer Lien returns as Kes in "Fury," and wrestler The Rock turns up in "Tsunkatse," a fanciful yarn inspired by the movie Fight Club. From watching these episodes, it's apparent that Voyager is beginning to run out of stream, but there are still more strong ones than weak ones, and the chemistry that made the cast so delightful to watch remains plainly evident.

I love Voyager! In their finial years of showing you could really see how the characters developed in to what they became
