One of the most popular characters on Sesame Street gets his own movie in this family comedy. Playful Elmo (voice of Kevin Clash) loves his blue blanket and would never want to lose it. So when it gets spirited off to parts unknown in the midst of a tug-of-war with one of his friends, Elmo sets out to find it and ends up in the grumpy kingdom of Grouchland, where Huxley (Mandy Patinkin) and the Queen of Trash (Vanessa Williams) rule over a dark and ill-mannered domain. Along with Elmo, several other favorite Sesame Street characters appear, including Oscar the Grouch (Carroll Spinney), Ernie (Steve Whitmire), and Bert (Frank Oz).

This is the only Elmo video out that is really set up like a movie - not just skits from Sesame Street strung together. There are numerous songs that, sadly, keep sticking in my head. My 25 month old loves this movie so much he often wakes up saying, "Watch Elmo"? It's well produced and has some great sets that beat the Elmo's World ones out of the water. We love it!

This is the first Elmo movie my Husband and I were very disappointed in. Our 2yr old daughter loves Elmo. We bought this movie for a long trip hoping to make it easier on her to be in the car. Usually you can't get her attention while a Elmo DVD is playing, but the first time we played this movie in the car for her, she became upset and unconsolable. We had to stop the car and change the movie out. We noticed right away from listening to it that it was not your normal/typical Elmo movie. It seemed to be dark, gloomy and depressing. I personally don't care much for Oscar the "grouch",but that is exactly what your getting when you buy this movie. Elmo in "grouch land". The characters are all negative and grouchy. I understand the direction they were going with the idea of not being selfish, but to a 2yr old, they don't. This was tasteless, and could have been approached in a different way.

This movie should come with a warning. This is not the usual Elmo. His trip to Grouchland is NOT fun! My grandson 2 1/2 loves Elmo and I bought this DVD for when he comes to see me. He sat there and cried and cried and shook his head about how bad Mandy Patankin was to take Elmo's blankey! We shut the movie off and I threw it away. I spoke with a niece and she had the same experience with her children and this movie. We agree that there should be a warning about this story and to be aware that some children may not take it well. We didn't think we'd have to watch an Elmo first to see if it was appropriate!

I couldn't agree less with the previous review. We love this Elmo movie and so does our 19 month old daughter. She gets so excited when Elmo addresses the audience and is glued to the screen for the whole movie. Mandy Patinkin is hysterical in this, and the point of his "evil" character is to teach kids to share. We love this movie and play it often
