What's the draw of this cinematic trainwreck? Beats me.

This movie was recommended to me when I was younger, by a bunch of friends I played video games with. They named themselves after each character in the movie, so naturally I had to watch it, right? It is by far one of the BEST movies I've ever seen, especially considering it's B movie status. The characters were rich and diverse, the plot was well detailed, but unless you pay close attention, can throw you for a loop towards the end, and the soundtrack for the movie was perfect. That's why I gave this movie a 5, and I recommend it to anyone that likes a good action/comedy movie.

The dialogue is tight and well played by Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus as brothers. And I have never seen Willem Dafoe better. And I really like Willem Dafoe. This is one of the only movies that I've seen that makes continual flashbacks work. You get to see the lead up and then you see the aftermath. Dafoe's FBI agent tries to fill in the pieces, not always well, and then comes the flashback showing exactly what did happen. It's a shame that the writer/director ended up landing himself on every blacklist there is in Hollywood. (For more detail, watch "Overnight", a documentary on Troy Duffy and his making of "The Boondock Saints." The guy's a conceited moron.) If you like this movie, and from what I understand you'll either love it or hate it, make sure to watch the deleted scene "Call from Ma." You'll laugh your a#$ off!

I have always loved this movie, but I only have the sequel in my movie collection. So when I seen this cool artsy version of the first on Blu-ray, I purchased it. However, they art shown in the photo for this movie is not at all how it looks. It just has the normal cover art for original Blu-ray version. This made me upset especially since I paid more hoping to get the version with the better art. I guess it is possible for it to be inside the movie case, but I do not want to open it to find out. I am not sure if this is a mistake or if the black, grey, and white art only exists digitally.

Boondock Saint is my all time favorite film. Never before has an action flick made me think so much. After viewing it for the first time, I had to reflect on how much I related to the vigilante MacManus brothers. Duffy did an amazing job with his debut film. Every aspect of this movie- from the acting, to the screenplay, to the soundtrack- is breathtaking.

An interesting, funny movie. I can't believe this went straight to video.

The person above me who reviewed this seems to have foolishly mistaken some things. The police never give them guns, they got them from an underground weapons depot. Of course the father didn't recognize his sons, he had been in jail for 30 years...he was hired as an assassin. Regardless, this was a great movie, this is by far my favorite.

This movie was one of the greatest I've ever seen. Willem Dafoe's acting goes unmatched as Detective Smecker. The comic relief is incredible. The secondary characters are incredible. All-in-all, this is a one of a kind. Pulp Fiction was not nearly as good as the Boondock Saints.

The movie is great and there is a new one out also--part 2. If you haven't seen either one rent or buy them. They are truly excellent movies. They show you the meaning of right and wrong and doing the right thing in a different way. Some would argue that the brothers are wrong in what they did but I think they did the right thing and definately want them on my side. It was not a big box office show but is a creat "cult" movie of that type. I don't want to give away the plot but you definately want to watch them if you like action movies. But a word of warning--not a movie for young children due to the honesty of the real world. Don't miss any of the movie as you need to see all of it so you don't miss out on anything. And as a teaser--I loved the part when they sit at the table and the cat is there and then poof. Ya gotta watch the movie to see what I mean.

I saw this movie while TDY for Operation Enduring Freedom. We all laughed our behinds off. I can't wait to get a copy for myself. I think the best part is the rope scene. Anyone who's ever done any sort of role playing games understands the importance of rope! Some reviewers seem to have been having a bad day when they saw this movie, but don't let that discourage you. It's a GREAT movie. And don't think I like it because I'm some gung-ho, young male military person. I'm 26, female and a mechanic (not a gun-wielding loony).

I would rate it six stars but I don't have the option. I saw this movie in 2000 becasue it was recommended, the soundtrack, by the band 'Boondock Saints' is awesome, and unfourtunately for me, rare. Sean Patrick Flannery, though twenty years my senior, has got to be the hottest man alive! Especially in this clever bit of movie.

I don't normally go in for blood guts and gore films. Which was what I thought this would be from the description. Then I watched it. Even the murder scenes are done artfully, without too much gore, but enough to make you feel it. Flannery and Reedus perform beautifully as brothers whose bond is amazing. I fell in love with them! This film not only has the ''social conscience'' thought-provoking theme of, ''is murder ok if you are only killing bad people?'' (which is the basis of the argument of capitol punishment) without pushing a specific view or opinion on you (it lets you make up your own mind) but it is just hilarious as well! Some of the one liners had me laughing so hard, I had to pause the tape. If you have not seen Boondock Saints yet, don't bother renting it, buy it because you will certainly watch it again and again.

This was one of the best movies I have ever seen. It was totally original and can be watched over and over. The only thing I didn't like was the inaccuracy of the Boston Police uniforms, but this was a amatuer film what do ya expect!!!! Definatley buy It.

This movie, ''The Boondock Saints'' is by far one of the greatest films I've ever seen. The story is so original, and the character/plot development is so great. The acting so so good in this movie -- meaning, it's not corny. And, oh my, Willem Defoe, his character was a hoot to watch. So was David Della Rocco. Everything about this film is so excellent. I can't believe it was an indie film, a STRAIGHT-TO-VIDEO indie at that. This film should have been a lot bigger. It's definetly got me hooked though.
