An oppressive atmosphere of corrupt behavior, unfulfillment and impotence permeates THE BORDER, a modern day drama that mostly takes place in and around El Paso, Texas. Nicholson plays Charlie Smith, a U.S. Border Patrol officer who transfers from Los Angeles with his wife to El Paso. The unit he joins has numerous officers participating in the illegtal immigration business. This unusual movie uses music to comment on the action. The score is credited to Ry Cooder. Recommended for adventurous movie lovers, only.
