I must admit that when this film was shown on T.V. I refused to watch it because of(all people to play the role) Tony Curtis!! also the network ruined the film with censorship editing. However, viewed today the DVD's restored scenes and wide screen edition looks great and Curtis' acting and makeup is truly phenomenal. How sad for all involved on the picture to learn it was completely omitted from Oscar nominations!!? The split screen was innovative for it's era and works to an advantage rather than a hindrance as it combines several busy scenes and keeps the viewer's mind active with the plot. The story of the gruesome killings is told without gore or extended gratuitous nudity yet conveys a sense of shock, just by the acting alone. Lionel Newman's score adds a nice touch of pervading terror. This is not a horror movie or a slasher flick just a well done film that plays out like a classic whodunnit in an almost docu-drama style.
