The Cat from Outer Space

Zunar J5/90 Doric 4-7, also known as Jake, is an alien cat who crash-lands on earth. He heads off to the nearest scientist to find gold ($120,000 worth!) in order to repair his spaceship. Jake reveals that he can predict the winners in sporting events and soon the military is trying to track him down. The plot becomes more complicated when a wacky veterinarian inadvertently puts Jake into a deep sleep; now he must hide the alien cat from government authorities. The Cat from Outer Space was written by cartoonist Ted Key, who also wrote other Disney family fare, including Gus and The $1,000,000 Duck.

I was little when I first watched this movie and now I have purchased it to share with my nieces. Horrible visual effects and I must say a not so interesting plot make this not a movie to rush out and buy and a must have for all movie watchers but if a part of you wishes to have back the simplicity of yesteryear and just to have an escape for a few moments then sit back with the kids and pop some popcorn and soak up the entertainment.

I love movies that are based on an actual story. Today's "family" movies seem to feel the need to have constant "gags" about bodily functions. This movie did not need that. I enjoyed it from start to finish. Great story with a surprise ending. Great effects. Just great fun!

People think that older kids wouldn't like this movie, but I prove them wrong. In a sence the older you get the more you like it. I've seen it about five times and still remember some parts even after a year. This is a fantastic film that you'll love over and over again!

I am under thirty, but I grew up watching this movie. It is about a cat from outer space, as the name implies =), that wears a collar which gives him amazing abilities such has talking and levitation. The antics of the cat, and his human friends are hilarious. This is a must for anyone who wants a good, clean, family movie. This movie is from the era when Disney made a certain style of clean family comedies in the late sixties and early seventies. It is hard to put a name to it, but Disney made several movies that all had a similar style. I have listed several of these movies below.
