Yet another super low-budget Ray Dennis Steckler slice of Hollywood trash comes to DVD with The Hollywood Strangler Meets the Skid Row Slasher. Once again paired with a comedy commentary and film intro by the world's leading drive-in critic, none other than Joe Bob Briggs, the disc will assuredly be a major selling point with customers because of the renowned expert's involvement, although Shriek Show has made sure to pack in the goods in the form of exclusive Steckler-approved extras as well. A second commentary has been included, with the director himself taking the wheel and letting you in on the endless corners that he cut during production. Steckler also candidly speaks of the film on the nine-minute interview section of the disc and even reappears in the "Conversation with Carolyn Brandt" section, where he and his lead actress catch up on one of their last collaborations in front and behind the camera. The Production Still and Poster Art section along with the trailers gallery provide even more trashy delight, the latter including a choice selection of the director's other releases from Shriek Show and a few more genre titles for viewers to sink their teeth into. Even if you're not a B-movie maniac, the disc is worth it for the classic Joe Bob commentary, though even without it, the disc would be a great addition on any passionate enthusiast's shelf. Thumbs up to Shriek Show for another fantastic release!
