This isn't exactly for kids and does have some themes that are probably for older teens. This is the story of Quasimodo who feels that he is a monster and is taken in by the creepy Judge. That's when Esmeralda comes in and helps Quasimodo including Phoebes the Guard leader. The opening scene has to be the saddest next to during the Festival of Fools event where Quasimodo won and later the Esmeralda finds out that he's not wearing a mask. And especially the climatic scene where Quasimodo tries to save Esmeralda from being burned at the stake. Its based on the novel by Victor Hugo and the film does seem to be a bit dark and is for the older crowd. Esmeralda is another favorite character of mine amongst the Disney princesses. Oh yeah and the ending was a little confusing I remember seeing this in theaters and my friend asked me: so are they throwing him out of their city or what? After the people were cheering and picked up Quasimodo and stuff. I just found that weird but loved the film. Anyway check this out and you should watch it with your kids and talk with them in case they get scared or something or are confused.

Well,I love The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and think Hunchback Of Notre Dame 2 is a high quality family film so that's why I wrote my sequel to this and here is some info on it. Syponsis: 7 years now we join Quasimodo who with Madalyn live together as husband and wife in the belltower and take care of an orphan named Fiona and everything goes well for the three. Expect, everything seems well when Phoebus, Esmeralda,Zephyr, and the newest addition Adriana return to Paris. One day while dancing Adriana discovers that Quasi's master Frollo is back in Paris and is looking for her and for Adriana's safety Phoebus sends her to the belltower and tells her never to leave Quasi and Madalyn's sight ,until thhey can get rid of Frollo. Yet, Adriana discovers the true dangers when she meets Frollo's young female deacon Georgia Maella who wittingly traps Quasi in a mysterious web and traps Adriana into Frollo's clutches. One day Adriana goes to tell her parents and brother about Frollo's trap but on the way the guards capture her and lock the poor gypsy youth in a caravan and plunge it into the river. Luckily, Clopin and Phoebus who were watching nerby rescue Adriana and take her to Quasimodo to be treated for her injury. Yay! No yay there is still the question of Does Frollo know that Adriana lived? Cast: Tom Hulce as Quasimodo, Andrea Libman as Adriana, Jason Alexander as Hugo, Tony Jay as Frollo, Kevin Kline as Phoebus, Demi Moore as Esmeralda, Paul Kandel as Clopin and Brittany Murphy as Georgia Maella.

The movie was very good... the animation was excellent, the songs were great, the score was beautiful... but this movie is more of an "older kids and adult" type of movie. If you are expecting "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" to be a non-scary, kid-safe movie like "The Lion King", "Beauty and the Beast", or "Aladdin", you will be pretty disappointed. Frollo (the film's cruel villain) chases a gypsy woman and kills her (though non-bloody. She dies because Frollo pushes her down the church stairs, and she lies there motionless). When Frollo sees that a baby is deformed, he wants to throw it down a well, but a deacon stops him. Frollo also sets fire to innocent people's houses (though everyone makes it out okay). When Quasi and Phoebus enter some catacombs, we see some skeletons and other bones. Frollo also brainwashes Quasimodo by telling him that he's "ugly" and is a "monster". Though the movie had a very good message to it, a lot of violence is played through out the movie. I would not recommend this movie to kids 9 and under, but preteens and teens should enjoy this movie.

Okay, so this is not the greatest Disney Movie of all time. However, it is really good. I think older, deeper people would appreciate it more than little kids. The music is great, the message is great, and the ending is happy. (So what if they changed it? However, it is kinda bad to change the masterpiece of a brilliant author too much. However, the book is really dark.) Give it a second try.
