The Messengers

Hong Kong horror specialists Danny and Oxide Pang (The Eye, Bangkok Haunted) ponder the paranormal sensitivities of young innocents in this tale of an unsuspecting family who falls prey to a malevolent entity after moving to into a haunted sunflower farm. Roy (Dylan McDermott) and Denise Solomon (Penelope Ann Miller) have decided to give up life in Chicago and relocate their family to secluded North Dakota sunflower farm. While the tranquil sway of the lush yellow fields at first offers a welcomed reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the big city, the family soon begins to suspect that they are not alone on the farm when teenage daughter Jess (Kristen Stewart) and her three-year-old brother, Ben (Evan Turner), begin to see a series of menacing apparitions that are apparently invisible to adult eyes. As Jess and Ben's encounters with the malevolent spirits grow increasingly violent, the parents of the tormented teen soon begin to question their daughter's sanity. Soon, the dark history of the family that once lived in the remote farm and the troubled past of the frightened Jess begin to merge as she struggles to warn her parents about the terrifying confrontation with the supernatural that is about to unfold. John Corbett, Jodelle Ferland, and Brent Briscoe co-star in a rural tale of terror from Ghosthouse Pictures and producer Sam Raimi.

I rented this movie assuming it was going to be another movie that was stupid, pointless, gory horror. It was not. The Messengers made sense, had a purpose, and actually had a suprisingly good plot. The acting was also good. However, the ghosts and zombies could have been much better. They looked extremely fake.

Remember the little girl in the ring? Picture her haunting your house, climbing on your walls, and even out of them. I was so freaked out by this movie because even though the whole thing was ridiculous, it was suspenseful. I constantly jumped at this PG-13 teen flick, even when a crow would fly at a window. Kristen's acting is by far her best, which makes the movie even better. But what's with the mom? Was she reading the script as she acted? Besides her, and the ending, everything in this movie was my worst nightmare. And the box office wasn't too shabby either. Preorder this NOW!! But no UNRATED? Oh, well...

This movie looked interesting and has one of my fave actresses in it. Basically I wasn't sure exactly what is was about then I started to watch it and it kinda made sense. Some good jump out of your moments. Heard it wasn't that good but I thought it wasn't so bad.

This movie started with a ton of promise but fizzled. Not a very scary ending.

If you watch the messengers then you'll probably get a reminder or two from the film the eye. specifically the elevator scene. a scene i remember from that movie. anyway, you have a intense beginning and later on a family moves into the house where strange happenings start to happen thanks to the arrival of a guy who helps them out. okay yes maybe the film is kind of predictable but it wasn't like horrible or anything. i thought it was okay and kristen stewart happens to be one of my favorite actress way BEFORE twilight. and i like the scary movies but a friend of mine were to choose either this or night at the museum. we chose night at the museum but of course rented the dvd and watched together and jumped at some moments. check this film out and you can watch it with friends over the weekend. oh and all the other actors did a good job especially john corbett man was he creepy in this.

the actual story was okay. the acting was good. but, ive seen everything before: (1.) family moves to a new house (2.) weird things happen @ the house tht only kids can c. (3.)parents dont beleive kids. (4)pop outs and creepy looking things. the only thing that was original was the thing on the ceiling that sounded like a coke can. get some originality!!!
