Everyone's favorite produce pals set out to seek their fortune on the open seas in this animated adventure from the folks who brought viewers Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie. Elliot, Sedgewick, and George (Larry the Cucumber, Mr. Lunt, and Pa Grape) are all busboys at the Pieces of Ate Dinner Theater, and all long for the day when they can cease cleaning tables and step into the spotlight. If Elliot could overcome his timidity, Sedgewick could muster some motivation, and George could only boost of self-confidence a bit, perhaps their dreams of starring in the big pirate show could finally come true. When a mysterious artifact known as the "Helpseeker" falls from the sky searching for three heroes to embark on a treacherous quest back to the 17th century, Elliot, Sedgewick, and George must choose between traveling back in time to rescue a royal family from a dangerous despot or spending the rest of their lives lazily lounging around on the couch.

My seven-year-old son got hooked on Veggie Tales when he received another DVD as a birthday gift. He saw previews for this one and wanted it, badly. I finally gave in and purchased it for him (at a discount, thankfully) and my son quickly declared it his favorite ever. The tunes are catchy and the storyline amusing. The religious aspect is subtle, unlike the first Veggie Tales, which I did not like. I liked the moral in this one and didn't find it too preachy.

The VeggieTales do it again. This is a good movie that the whole family can enjoy. Like all VeggieTales movies, it both entertains and teaches a valuable lesson. My children, 3 and 4 years old, will watch this one over and over. Mom and Dad enjoy it too. If you are torn between buying Jonah and the Pirates that Don't Do Anything, then I would suggest you buy this one, though both are quite good. If you are looking for action, adventure, and humor (with an underlying Christian theme) then look no further. No need to worry about your children seeing or hearing something offensive or beeing scared. And no need to worry about sappy or boring G-rated content. This is all about good clean family fun!
