The Allied commandos of the 111th Armored Recon return for Season 2 of The Rat Patrol. Created by television veteran Tom Gries, this action-packed drama kept fans on the edge of their seats for two seasons with more than 50 pulse-pounding episodes. Under the regime of charismatic Sgt. Sam Troy (Christopher George), the elite four-man commando team battled the German Army's Afrika Korps, led by the patrol's nemesis Hauptmann Hans Dietrich (Eric Braeden), during World War II. The first ABC war program to be broadcast in color, The Rat Patrol featured a ragtag squad of soldiers that included Sgt. Jack Moffitt (Gary Raymond), the intellectual British demolitions expert; Pvt. Mark Hitchcock (Lawrence Casey), resident hunk; and Pvt. Tully Pettigrew (Justin Tarr), the group's mechanical wizard. Inspired by the Long Range Desert Group -- a British Army unit that specialized in mechanized reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, and desert navigation -- the series was filmed in Spain and featured props and vehicles that were used in big-budget World War II films. The authentic props gave the show a sense of visual realism that made up for its lack of historical accuracy. This DVD set collects the 26 episodes that aired between September 1967 and March '68, when ABC canceled the series.

Nice compilation of the full series. Very good price - both disks for about the same price as each one individually. This is an older series, but the stories and acting are engaging. Several of the actors went on to star in other series, so it's fun to go back and see them in their earlier years. And, there's a nice bit of history to the stories as well. There are very few programs that give you any insight into the war in North Africa, so this is a easy way to get a quick look into that theater of war. Good mix of personalities and interesting stories.
