This was a great movie about the true meaning of love that is enduring. It is told in flashbacks as a son returns to his village to handle the details of his father's death and his mother's insistance on the method of bringing his father's body back to the village.

This was Zhang Ziyi's first major movie. there is no actress more beautiful and she is very talented as well. My wife and I cried throughout, me when the lovers were separated, my wife, when the Mother was repairing the bowl. All of this Director's movies are outstanding. He is probably the best now, along with Ron Howard.

I loved this movie and will purchase it for my library. It is a simple, sometimes humorous, pure love story without anything objectionable in it. It is beautifully filmed and the story helps you know a little what it is like living in Communist China.

This beautiful film by one of my favorite directors is a story of hope, trust, and a remarkable love that few people, perhaps, will ever experience. The acting is quietly superb and expressive.

This is ''the'' film to watch with your loved onese. I taped it on tape first, but now I have to get the DVD for her birthday present. The scene is so simple and beutiful. I watched it 2 times and shed tears 2 time. And I am a 23 year old guy. That says a lot. :)

I saw this the first time while in China. It was in Mandarin and I can't understand Mandarin and there were no English subtitles. Nevertheless 5 minutes into the movie I began to cry. And I'm a guy who doesn't weep easily. The story is actually based on the director's parents relationship--a true love story and a glimpse into the real China.

My husband and I highly recommend this movie. Even our children enjoyed it. The movie is very well done and is easy to follow without having to read the sub-titles. It shows the true meaning of what love is all about.

I really enjoyed this movie. It is really about true love over the years. It should be a valentine day gift if you are falling in love or have someone you have a realtionship for many years and the relationship has not been the same as your eyes met each other the first time. After the movie my friend and I who were deployed in the Army called our spouse.

I really liked this movie. I did cry. I didn't go into the theatre expecting to cry, but I couldn't help it. It reminds me of my grandparents.
