My son is nearly 3 and has watched this movie nearly every night... it is so wonderful and funny. The whole family watches it with him. My nephew who is 12 now and plays baseball handed the movie down to my son. We'll be handing it back down to my new nephew who is nearly 2. Ageless, truly.

This is the best movie I have ever seen. It takes place as young Scotty Smalls moves to a new town. His mom tells him to go out every day and make new friends. One day while walking, he happens to lead himself into the Sandlot. The neighborhood gang practices their every day. When Benny''The Jet'' Rodriguizes knocks the ball into left center field, Smalls tries to catch the ball. But they find out that Smalls can't catch or throw. Smalls stepfather is to busy to teach him to play though. So The Jet teaches young Smalls to catch and throw. So now they have a team. One day in the summer, Benny knocks the stiches out of the ball but their is one problem, THEY DON'T HAVE A BALL. So Smalls takes his stefather's ''Babe Ruth'' autographed baseball. When Smalls Knocks out the ball it happens to be a Home Run. But the problem is, It WAS AUTOGRAPHED BY THE GREAT BAMBINO(Smalls doesn't know who that is). When they try to get it, their is a legendary Beast that lives their. So they try all the stunts to get it. But in one dream, Benny talked to Babe Ruth. Then the next day, he gathers the gang up and gets the ball. He gets chased for about five minutes. When the dog gets crushed by a wall, Smalls and Benny return it to Mr. Mertle(James Earl Jones). So at the end Smalls tells his stepfather and replaces the Babe Ruth autographed ball with the 1972 Yankees atuographed baseball that Mr. Mertle traded them for.Overall an outstanding movie.

This movie is completely enjoyable and utterly captivating. The actors are outstanding and the whimsical directing captures to a T the way we all used to view the world, once upon a time when we were children and the world was full of magic, wonder, and possibility. If baseball was an integral part of your childhood, as it was for mine, then this movie is especially recommended. No other movie has captured the true childhood dilemma of wanting to cheer a friend who just managed to tear the cover off a baseball, yet knowing that the most integral piece of equipment has just been destroyed! This is one of the best movies for and about kids to come along in quite awhile. A classic that will endure.

Heart warming good clean fun adventures of a gang of kids that just want to hear the words Let's Play Ball! This film will definitely make you want to be a kid again back in the simplier days of summer, where the only really important things were 'do we have enough kids to play a game' and 'where can we scrap up enough money for another ball. '

The Sandlot is more than just a movie; it is a piece of nostalgia that we all can relate to in one way or another. The story takes place in the 1950's, when a new boy; ''Smalls'' moves to a new neighborhood. In the middle of struggling to understand life as well as getting adjusted to his stepfather's parental shortcomings, Smalls stumbles upon a baseball field called the Sandlot. This field, is more than just a baseball diamond; it is a society. A place where boys can be boys, and live out their youth to the fullest. The story is full of twists, turns, homeruns, and pickles that Smalls gets himself into with the boys from the neighborhood. However, this movie is more than just a story about baseball, it is a story about being a kid and finding your place in your society, while growing up in the Golden age of America. It hits home to everyone in either of two ways. Either the viewer remembers growing up this way, or they wish they had. In today's society, we struggle to find the kind of freedom that these kids had in the 1950's. The freedom to be ten years old, and leave for the day with your friends to play baseball, get into trouble, and be back by dinner time. The children had nothing to worry about because the fear of being abducted was not as wide spread and parents were not as obsessed with the safety of their children as they are now. As a result of this, the kids of Sandlot had to create their own fears by telling the story of ''the Beast''; an overdramatized dog, whom they made out to be a monster that eats kids. This youthful sense of life is missing from todays society, but if you watch the Sandlot, it all comes back to you.

The Sandlot was the best movie i ever seen. It reminded me of one summer I had whn I was 13. And I am a baseball fan, so that made the movie even more exciting. It was funny because of all the trouble they got in in the movie. I would defenetly give this movie to a younger kid that likes baseball

The Sandlot is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is one of those movies that almost everyone can relate to. The story is about a boy named Scotty who moves to a new neighborhood in the summer, knowing absolutely no one other than his mother and step-father. Finally, through the leadership of a boy from the neighborhood's "baseball gang," Scotty becomes best friends with eight other boys. Baseball brings them all together, creating an adventure of a lifetime. When I watched this movie, it made me think of my childhood and all of my fun and innocent childhood memories. Before alcohol and drugs became such a huge part of our society, people found other, more wholesome ways to have fun. The Sandlot does a great job in demonstrating this. This movie is family-friendly and fun to watch. The humor, the bit of romance and the overall adventures that these boys go through symbolizes true friendship. This movie shows the importance of the bond between friends and family. I love how these boys became closer, and a lot of this formation of friendships was because of their leader. It goes to show how one person can make a difference by being a good example to those around you. It sends a good message to children, that striving to be a leader is not a bad thing if you use your leadership skills for good. The music also complimented the movie and story. The soundtrack to this movie is awesome, especially with the talent of composer David Newman. Every song in the movie fits perfectly with each scene. The director, David Mickey Evans, does a great job in portraying each character as someone different and unique. Each character was convincing in their own roles and I feel they did their job in portraying the author's purpose. Although the characters were so different and did not necessarily have much in common, they all shared a common interest of baseball. Each boy had something unique about him, whether it was his intelligence, his shyness, his humor, his toughness, his athleticism, his leadership skills, or his interest in science. The acting was really good and I was impressed with all of the humor and spunk these young boys had. This movie was funny, adventurous, and unpredictable at times, but it left me with a happy feeling. This brotherly bond, formed among these nine boys, gives hope to people who feel alone that they do not have to be alone. The main character's background is very common among children. There are many unfortunate situations for children where parents are divorced or one parent dies. In these situations, the children tend to end up feeling alone. This movie is inspirational to many. There is one thing about the DVD itself that I do not like. There are not many features on the DVD, other than subtitles. Despite the lack of special features, extras, or commentary, this movie is a must-see! Overall I give this movie five stars, ten out of ten, and a big thumbs up. It has nothing but good qualities and is enjoyable to watch, so I encourage everyone to buy this movie. This is one of those movies where you can watch it over and over again, and it never gets old. I find myself smiling throughout most of the movie because it is very heartwarming. If there was one movie I would recommend to a kid, or even a family, it would definitely be The Sandlot.

In any genre, this film has a great plotline of kids in the 60's before drugs, Vietnam and Watergate screwed up our idealism. This kind of captures that time and place where Scotty Smalls, the new kid on the block, is welcomed because he proves he has guts. I think that this movie is a classic and will outlive my generation and fuifill dreams for future generations of baseball generations if steroid doesn't destroy that grand culture.
