In this Claymation adaptation of Oscar Wilde's story of the same name, two woodsmen witness a falling star and, believing in the folklore of the time, try to find the place where the star landed in the hopes of finding gold. What they find, however, is a baby wrapped in a golden blanket and wearing an amber chain around his neck. One of the woodsmen, Sven, takes pity on the child and brings him home to his own family. Believed to be of royal blood, the townsfolk spoil the child and he grows into a rude and arrogant boy. Then one day, his real mother returns and reveals that her son was stolen from her by robbers who left her with a curse. What will become of the town and of the star child now that his true parentage has been revealed?
