Fans of PBS' Mystery! will remember the star, Trevor Eve, from the trilogy "Heat of the Sun" set in Kenya right after the end of World War I. Eve does not disappoint in this edgy, well-written whodunit series. It's been compared to CBS's "Cold Case," but that does this show a great injustice. The writers have created complex characters and convoluted plots that keep the viewer guessing until the last minute. There are no cookie-cutter happy endings in this series; it very much mirrors 'real' life in all its grittiness and messiness. For those concerned about violence or foul language, the writers don't seem to need to fall back on either device to create suspense or complexity within the plot. I've not seen writing and acting at this level in quite a while. Kudos to the BBC for airing this show. I hope that you get hooked on this series as quickly as we did.
