Many have heard Walt Michael's dulcimer being played in the background as they've watched the Olympics, a play on Broadway, or a program on PBS. Others have heard him play with one of his performing groups, including Bottle Hill and Walt Michael & Company. On this video Michael shares some of his inside tips on ways to produce the most melodic music from a dulcimer. Alone and with others he demonstrates reels, breakdowns, Southern old-time music, medleys, and contemporary music. Michael often stops to break down the tunes in order to carefully teach specific elements of each one. Songs "Rock the Cradle Joe," "Hawks and Eagles," "Devil's Dream," and "The Pirate's Prayer" are included.
