A teenage girl becomes a demented serial killer's prey in this big-budget remake of the 1979 thriller that became a TV late-show favorite. When a Stranger Calls takes its title and basic premise from the original, which -- for its first 15 minutes or so -- featured Carol Kane as a frazzled babysitter plagued by creepy, invasive phone calls. This time around, the doe-eyed Camilla Belle plays Jill Johnson, a high-schooler dealing with the usual set of crises: an unfaithful boyfriend, a bitchy best friend, and an over-the-limit cell phone bill. In order to pay for the latter, her father (Clark Gregg) has committed her to a babysitting gig with a wealthy family. At the isolated, palatial house, Jill settles in for a night of no-stress kid-watching. But it isn't long before someone starts anonymously calling the house with creepy, increasingly specific messages. Jill doesn't rule out anyone, but it becomes clear that whomever it is, he or she is watching her, and may be closer than she even suspects.

I haven't not seen the original but have heard about it and sought out to see the remake to it. This is the same story as the original about a babysitter who's being getting phone calls from a stranger. I thought it was alright though I thought why not see the original first then compare with how the remake does with it. Overall, in my opinion I liked the movie.

makes you think twice about babysitting doesn't it? this here is the remake to the creepy and memorable film of the same name about babysitter jill and the creepy caller. i saw this first then the remake so it was cool to notice the same stuff you see in the remake that originated from the original. i liked the remake and thought it was alright, not great but not bad either. this is something you'd say one of the fewer good remakes to orignals where now we have some pretty good and some ridiculously bad. so yeah see the original and remake then you'll have an idea on the story and the creepiest moments ever!!

We were late for our show and the next movie running was this one. I had seen the original movie and I was reluctant to see another butchering of a remake. But I was pleasantly surprised! This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat 80% of the time. In the style of old horror movies. This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommend this to others.

I can't say the movie was bad because you have great acting in some parts of the movie and it does have a lot more supence then the orignal, but if you watch it.You have to see the orignal and compare them. Some people may say the movie is good or stupid. But I think it was o.k.

I thought this movie had things that the origional didn't. I was really scaried after watching it that I canceled all of my babysitting gigs for al least 3 weeks. And it also had me guessing who the killer was till the very ending of the movie.

I saw this in the theater and it was so freaky! I loved the plot and thought it had the perfect blend of horror without going over the top. Thumbs up!

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! I'm not much of a horror movie person, but I loved this one! I It was incredibly intense, but there wasn't much blood. Another thing I liked about this movie is that it was fairly clean. There isn't much language or anything else overly inappropriate in it. That being said, I would not recommend this movie for kids or the faint of heart because it is creepy, but if you can handle suspense, you need to see this movie!

Most of the reviews for this movie are negative and I understand why. But in my opinion When a Stranger Calls 06 wasn't horrible, but it wasn't very good. It has it's moments, but just not nearly enough. The original had a great opening 25-min that can rival any horror movie. The rest was rather boring. The remake doesn't improve on the flaws, I would say the remake isn't as boring, but nowhere near as creepy. I think When a Stranger Calls 06 will play big with the teenage girl crowd. As for the rest of us we will get a movie with a good plot that never really goes anywhere.

Never. Camilla Belle makes the most of a poor script and poor direction. Everything that was scary about the original is compeletely hackneyed here. The opening of the film is completely misleading and creates the hugest plothole I've ever witnessed exist in a horror film. How can a killer hack up two children into four body bags, but not be able to tackle the task of hacking up Camilla's tweeny character and the two SICK children she's sitting? Dumb. The death scenes are lame. Very lame. PG-13 horror films should not exist, unless they can achieve the direction Gore Verbinski managed to for "The Ring". It is especially embarassing when a film must rely on a jolted music score in order to amp up the scares. Cats running across the screen have never and will never be scary. If a friend calls you up one evening and asks if you'd like to come over and watch "When A Stranger Calls"... hang up and don't answer the phone again.

I don't know why this movie is getting so many positive reviews. There's only about 10 minutes of suspense and the rest of it was just senseless junk. There's a dumb useless background story of high school girls being snobby towards one another and then the phone rings 60 thousand times, it got boring and repetitive real fast. Oh, and the kids Camilla had to babysit for in the movie were so cheesy, I think my 2 year old toddler has better acting skills than they do. Overall, bad directing, repetitive phone ringing, and lame story. Only positive thing about this movie was Camilla Belle is a hotty.
