Who'll Stop the Rain?
The 1978 Nick Nolte vehicle Who'll Stop the Rain? is given only fair DVD treatment by MGM. Featuring a 1.85:1 non-anamorphic widescreen transfer, the film suffers from much edge enhancement, grain, dirt, and other defects in the picture. Colors are usually bright, though tend to have a softness to them that is not pleasing to the eye. Overall, this transfer is very under par for an MGM release. Audio is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 (in English and Spanish) and sounds only passing. While the effects, dialogue, and music all sounded clear of distortion, depth and fidelity is strongly lacking. Also included on this disc are English and Spanish subtitles. Who'll Stop the Rain? is given mostly bare-bones treatment, save for a single theatrical trailer tacked on for good measure. Fans of this film will most likely be disappointed in the MGM edition of this late-'70s classic.
