Overview

X-Men: First Class

Set in the era before Professor Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr became mortal enemies as Professor X and Magneto, respectively, director Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class follows the two former allies as they lead a powerful team of mutants on a mission to save the planet from nuclear annihilation. Charles (James McAvoy) and Erik (Michael Fassbender) were just young men when it began to appear as if the world was careening toward destruction. As the Doomsday Clock ticks faster toward midnight, the time comes to take action. Realizing they could use their unique powers to avert a global thermonuclear war during the Bay of Pigs crisis, the two powerful mutants launch an intense recruitment campaign with the support of Dr. Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne) and the CIA. Before long, Charles and Erik have assembled a crack team that includes Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Banshee (Caleb Landry Jones), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Angel (Zoe Kravitz), Havok (Lucas Till), and Darwin (Edi Gathegi). Meanwhile, the malevolent Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) plots to plunge the world into war with the help of villainous mutants Riptide (Alex Gonzalez), Azazel (Jason Flemyng), and Emma Frost (January Jones). In the process of saving humanity, however, Charles and Erik clash, setting the stage for Professor X to lead the X-Men in the fight for good as Magneto and the Brotherhood spread chaos and destruction on a global scale.

Was disappointed with the movies that were released concurrently, but, XMen First Class turne out to be a really good movie. The storyline, script, performances, special effects are all excellent in this movie.

Really really good movie. The acting is great especially the performances by the two leads. The cameos were a nice surprise. Recommend this. Definitely a movie worth seeing again.

The DVD was never recieved and when emailed to find out the status, I never heard back from the seller. Eventually, I had to go back to Barnes and Nobles who reissued the gift card that I used to purchase this item. It was a pain in the butt and will make sure when ordering that this is not the seller.

Since this was my first encounter with X-Men I was expecting a better conclusion. The conclusion to this DVD seemed too abrupt, yet the storyline, special effects, and the characters were highly engaging the wrap-up was not that great. It was an o.k. DVD to me.

I thought this movie was very well done and the casting was excellent! One of my biggest loves in movies is all of the comic book and graphic novel titles, and I usually see the lot of them in the theatres and wind up liking the general majority of them. I think the only 2 comic book/graphic novel movie adaptions I really didn't care much for were Elektra and Catwoman...and perhaps maybe Batman & Robin to a degree as well. They were either a bit too corny and/or not all that exciting. Most of the rest of these type of movies I've seen I really like, and this one is no exception. I picked up my Blu-Ray copy of this on day one! If you're into these types of movies and are also looking for a good storyline and some realitively good acting, I highly recommend looking into this movie if you have not yet checked it out.
