This book series captivated me from the beginning. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys rollercoaster and jaw dropping scenes. Beautifully written! Loved it all!!

As they say...independent authors need to put their best work out. This had a lot of editing errors. It took away from the story.

A little too much sex for me, but I enjoy the story line. I wish the editing were better. The same word repeated and the changing verb tenses are annoying. Deb in NH

This is the third in the series, and it was nice to be able to read the second and this one back to back. With the cliffhanger ending in book 2, I was so ready to jump right in to the third book. Ember is back from the Otherworld with her mother and a few others, and the one person she she comes across is Eli. Now it’s been 3 years for Eli, but only seems like a couple of weeks for Ember, so there from the start there is this tension between Ember and Eli. There is a war on the horizon, and the search for the sword, Ember’s world is going to get even more stressful and so begins the more of the journey for her.   Ember is a freakin awesome main character. She is smart, caring and kickass too. I like that she is isn’t wimpy and whiny and especially that she is funny and snarky. Eli is still kinda of a mystery to me, and unraveling a little more of this protective, smexy guy was fun to say the least. The chemistry between him and Ember was steamy… There were a few other characters that I just have to mention. Kennedy was great, and I loved Cal.   The plot is fast and unpredictable, and full of secrets being kept, love triangles, jealousy and so many things still to be learned. And with so many after Ember, there isn’t any time for dwelling. There are questions that Ember wants answers to, The tension between Ember and Eli and then there is this whole thing between her and Torin. His presence doesn’t help with the already tenseness between Ember and Eli, but I liked Torin, and maybe I wasn’t really supposed to, but what would this be without any romance drama. There were some shocking revelations for Ember, and some unexpected twists too. Betrayals played a big part, and I just wanted to rip a few of them a new one, how could they do this to Ember? And that ending has me wanting the fourth book, like now. This installment by far if my favorite so far!   Dwellers of Darkness has such a solid story, and characters that were so amazing and I can’t get enough of it all. Blood Beyond Darkness can not be out fast enough.     This is the third in the series, and it was nice to be able to read the second and this one back to back. So, seriously, what is it about this series that has me so hooked?! I can't even pin it on one thing, exactly. There are just too many amazing things to choose from! So, if you're looking for a slow-building, chaste, sweet romance, please don't pick up this book. Wait. Just kidding. Pick up this book, anyway, because you're going to change your mind about what kind of stories you enjoy. The chemistry between Ember and Eli is crazy! And I'm talking about just their conversations. These two are going down as one of my all-time favorite book couples. I'm just a little worried about what this big secret is that I can tell will most likely be hashed out in the next book. I'm terrified, actually. Ugh. But, I'm hoping it'll just bring Em and Eli closer in the end. As for the other characters, I'm still loving most of the supporting characters. But, I'm pretty sure that Kennedy is my favorite. She's so overlooked in the first books in this series and then she pretty much has the ability to steal the show. Now, let's talk about who I don't like for a moment. And this may be a little against-the-grain, here, but I really, really, truly do not like Lily, Ember's mom. And I feel so torn about that because Ember missed her so much! But, seriously, this lady is NOT a fun character. I'm really hoping to see her in a better light in the future. All-in-all, this series is a must-read. Take it from me, there is so much right with this story!

I have really loved this series and to know that this is the penultimate novel is depressing! Although there are paranormal events constantly taking place, this is a character drive story in which we are invited to love, hate, laugh and cry with them. In this novel we see how each character has evolved, but Stacey Marie Brown leaves grey areas; no character is entirely good or evil. We read this wishing that it will lead to a happy ending for Ember, Eli, their friends and family, but unsure whether this will happen because of the constant drama they face. Dwellers of Darkness begins four years after the end of Fire in the Darkness, although for Ember it only feels like days. Her disappearance has changed Eli, whose behaviour has become dangerous and erratic, but after Lorcan's exposure of him at the end of book two, Ember finds being around him painful. After Gabby locks them in a room to resolve their differences they realise the depth of their feelings for one another. As their romance develops, Ember's feelings for Torin are questioned; he refuses to deny their bond and this forces her to make a decision. It is just as Ember is finding happiness that Lars chooses to assert his control over her, calling in his favour and giving her an ultimatum. Although he tries to dominate her, Ember fights against this, forgetting his power. We see several different facets of Lars' personality in Dwellers of Darkness; his temper, his magic and even a vaguely emotional quality! I admit that I had the same feelings about his identity as Ember does and though he contradicts this, I am still hopeful! I think the pace of Stacey Marie Brown's writing is slower throughout this book, but it does not mean that the reader is any less captivated by events. If anything we want to read faster, just to find out where the group's journey will take them. The end of Dwellers of Darkness is more emotive and climatic than in the previous installments and I am gutted that I now have to wait for Blood Beyond Darkness!! I received this as a complimentary review copy, but this has had no influence on my opinion.

Dwellers of Darkness (Darkness #3) by Stacey Marie Brown Ember Brycin returns home from the Otherworld.  It felt like she was gone a few days but in the human realm, she had been gone for three years. Now she is being hunted by the Seelie Queen; she needs to avoid the Unseelie King for her broken oath, and Eli is furious with her.  If that isn’t enough, she has to fulfill the prophecy and obtain the Sword of Light to kill the Queen.   Poor Ember has her hands full.  She has had to cope with so much.  Her love life has gone haywire, and she still has loved ones that need rescuing.  Then there is the small matter of finding the Sword of Light, no pressure. The love triangle between Ember, Eli, and Toren became more interesting in Dwellers of Darkness.  I will admit, while Torin is nice, I prefer Elighan Dragen. He has the brooding alpha male mastered.  I still can’t get enough of Ember and Eli’s witty banter.   I adore the scenes with  the pixies, Cal and Simmons; they are entertaining comic relief.  The two add a lot of humor to the story and amusing pranks. I love this series!  I read books one to three back to back.  It was so spellbinding it only took me two days to read all three books.  I can’t wait for the last novel Blood Beyond Darkness. If you love paranormal don’t skip this series.  It is well-written and action pact.  The characters are phenomenal and the story incredible.  Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

Not going to lie, I definitely kept reading chunks and stopping instead of doing one straight sitting just so I could make it last a little longer. I was dreading finishing it because I just love this series to pieces! Dwellers of Darkness picks up right where Fire in the Darkness left us and takes off like a rocket.  Ember continues to make me love her as our protagonist. She is beyond stubborn and bad-ass and can dish it as well as she can take it. Plus I'm so happy to see her take charge of her feelings in this one, though I know... I just know there is a secret we have yet to discover that is going to explode in her face and I'm dying to know what that is. I'm hoping she'll be able to right everything with her tough interior and exterior though.  Eli Dragen, mother humping dominant sexy green-eyed hot beast, you. This man is all strength and muscles and protectiveness and I can never get enough of him. I absolutely loved to see that toughness crack slightly towards Ember in this installment, yet at the same time the intenseness just continues to build between him and Ember and I couldn't have loved it more. I know there's more were missing from him, and I can only hope it doesn't destroy anything. ELI FOREVVVER!  It's not just him and Ember I love, though they play the biggest roles.. I love the story. I absolutely adore the world of Fae and Dark Dwellers and all that is light and dark. I love the age range of the story and the romance, and betrayals, and snarky friendships. It's got a little (or maybe a lot) of everything I adore in a book.  The end of the book... man! I wanted to rip the queen in half, know everybody's secrets, slap and kiss Eli at the same time, and scream for the next book. I heart this series so freaken hard. I will definitely not be looking forward to the series coming to an end, however I can only hope for an epic and earth shattering happily ever after. Love this series!!
