**NEW ADULT MILITARY ROMANCE FROM NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR S.M. BUTLER**
Five years ago, former NSA agent Cadence Long almost died from her mentor's bullet. She learned one valuable lesson that day: Trust no one. That's why her casual friendship with Dylan works so well. They both agree that a romantic relationship is off the table but when he starts flashing that dazzling smile and those twin dimples at her, the sizzling attraction between them becomes impossible for her to resist.
Navy SEAL Dylan Urban is ready for more than a romp in the sheets with Cadence, but convincing her proves a more difficult mission than he's prepared for. After she runs off on an unsanctioned, one-woman kamikaze mission, the only way he can see to protect Cadence is to get her open up herself to trust him, but it might mean losing his heart in the process.
While on the trail of one of the most notorious traitors in recent history, both Dylan and Cadence must decide if what they have or could have is worth giving up the chase, or if for once, they might have to trust another to break down the walls they so carefully crafted.
This New Adult title includes adult situations and language and may not be suitable for readers under 18 years.

Five years ago Cadence Long, NSA agent, was shot by her lover/partner and left to die. Now she works for Lucky Thirteen and she wants revenge. Dylan Urban, SEAL and Lucky Thirteen member, and Cadence are having what has turned out to be a friends with benefits good time. Feelings are starting to creep in and that is the last thing Cadence wants or needs. When she finds her ex-partner, will she walk away from Dylan for the revenge she so desperately needs or will she trust him to help her? Lucky Thirteen is an awesome series and this book is another great addition. Dylan has stolen my heart. He may be young but he knows what he wants. I'm looking forward to seeing where this couple ultimately ends up. Thank you SM Butler for another fantastic adventure with the members of Lucky Thirteen. Can't wait for the next one! Butler has created a novel that deals a lot with the emotional and psychological trauma that her characters face because of their chosen profession. She melds excitement and suspense, along with life altering circumstances to create a story that will really make you think. By flipping between the two main characters’ perspectives Butler really highlights the differences between the characters. She also lets you see the difference between what they’re thinking, feeling, and actually showing the world around them. Butler develops a solid background for the female lead which was the basis for the story as a whole. I did find that the female lead gets a little whiny at times. The ‘oh poor me’ act was a bit much after a while but her trust issues were completely understandable. The male lead didn’t exist before this story started. He just kind of appeared on the first page and developed from there. Of course, this isn’t the first novel in the series and the author assumes that readers already know her characters walking into this one. There’s a huge hole in the ‘Jack’ story. Hopefully it’ll get clarified in the next novel in the series. At this point all we know is that there’s more to this story that was started and left hanging. All in all, this was an enjoyable and exciting read. The author takes you across the world alongside her characters in a very unique manner. I've been reading this series from the beginning and really liked the first two books, but I just thought this one was okay. I didn't really like Cady. She was too busy putting Dylan down for being younger than her and trying to help her with her mission. I'm sorry, but being only four years younger than someone does not mean you're robbing the cradle. And she kept running towards Jack and thinking or telling people how horrible and ruthless he was, wanting revenge, but then she talked herself and others into believing he was doing things for a good cause. I just think she was too undecided about her feelings for both Jack and Dylan. And I have no idea why Dylan kept putting up with her crap. Him, I actually liked for some odd reason. Watching someone self-destruct isn't fun and that's exactly what he was doing and even helping her. I'll probably read the next book through I'm not sure. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
What happened to a person’s soul who suffers a horrible experience’ - an experience they were lucky to live through? Cadence Long was shot and left to die by her partner five years earlier. She has become an expert at keeping herself separated from everyone, even that of her team. Dylan Urban was part of the Seal Team that rescued her. He is now fighting for more than her freedom. Dying Commitment is a fast paced story, filled with twists and turns across the globe. Cadence is a strong alpha female who does not believe she needs anyone or anything, other than revenge against her old partner. I enjoyed watching her open herself up to Dylan and start to believe in her own future. Dylan has the patience of a saint and the tenacity of a bull-dog. Dying Commitment is book 3 in the Lucky Thirteen series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, it would be more fully enjoyed after reading the first two books in the series. I am very much looking forward to the next book in this series.
