Dylan's Time-Flying Adventures with the Holy Spirit: David and Goliath
Dylan’s Time flying adventures with the Holy Spirit, David and Goliath, allows children to relate their life to one of the most inspirational Bible Stories. At some point, every child wishes they were bigger, stronger, or grownup already. In this story, five year old Dylan is turned into a Dove, just like Holly. He is then able to fly with into the Bible story and experience part of David’s life. Dylan sees David as just a little guy, the smallest in his family. Dylan watches how God anoints David as the future Kin, how he has a purpose for David when he grows up. Then he learns that David has to wait, trust God, and do his will to grow up and become the King that God wants him to be. It is hard for children and adults to trust in God’s plan for their lives and to know that God will be with them through all battles. David is a wonderful example for everyone to trust in the Lord and to be ready, willing and able to fight all battles even before getting all of the rewards that God promises. Dylan does not see David become the King in this book, but does see how David is able to accomplish great success in a battle for the Lord but trusting him.

CHAPTER 1

Dylan ran into the house so fast that he almost tripped over his baby brother Matthew. "I just can't do it" yelled Dylan, jumping up and down. "All of the other kids can get the basketball into the hoop, but I can't. I'm too little – I can't do anything!" He ran into his room and started to cry.

After a few minutes, his mom came and sat down next to him on his bed. She held him while he cried and stroked his curly black hair. "Dylan," she said "you're five years old – those other kids are much older and bigger. It was a full sized basketball hoop. You shouldn't be sooo upset."

"but I wanted to beat them – I don't like being little" Dylan sobbed. "When am I going to be the biggest?" His mom thought and finally said – "Dylan, why don't you pray about it? Ask God to send the Holy Spirit to show you the way." "Ok" Dylan said. His mom left.

Dylan cried softly and looked out his window. He prayed to God. "Dear God, please make me bigger – like a giant so I can beat all the other kids. I want to be the biggest and the best. Please show me how to be the biggest and the best." Dylan drifted off to sleep.

While sleeping he heard something tapping on his window. He opened his eyes, looked out and saw the stars in the night sky and a little dove right outside his window. Dylan opened his window and to his surprise, the bird came in and sat on Dylan's finger.

Dylan was too surprised to move a muscle. He stared at the bird in silent awe. Then, the Dove opened its beak and spoke. "God heard your prayer Dylan."

"Who are you?" Dylan asked. "You can call me Holly" replied the Dove.

"Are you here to make me the biggest and strongest so that I can beat everyone at basketball?"

"No, I'm here to show you that even people who look bigger and stronger are no match for children of God. A child of God, who has a pure heart, loves God and does his will, is able to do amazing things in accordance with God's plan."

"That doesn't make any sense." Dylan replied. "How will that help me with basketball?"

"Do you want to fly with me, back in time, to see a young boy with a special purpose who did some amazing things by trusting in God?"

"Yeah! I can fly!" Dylan exclaimed. The Dove answered "Hold onto this feather, come to your window, flap your arms and believe – then open your eyes and follow me." Dylan grabbed the feather. He jumped up, went to his open window, closed his eyes, flapped his arms and felt the cool night air all around him.

Dylan flapped his arms for a long time and when he opened his eyes he was surprised with what he saw. It was daytime and really hot. There was a lake and when he saw his reflection, he saw that he was a dove too!

He had to work hard to keep up with the Dove.
