Thoroughly enjoyed the stories; baffled by a couple of the endings. Maybe I missed something, but it was a very enjoyable read.

I grew up in a place much like this mythical town and from my experience, the descriptions and stories are spot on.

I found the stories to be both funny and sad; some of the ending’s stumped me at first, but on a second reading, I think I understood what the author was trying to say.

Heart-warming – a realistic look at growing up in a small town. I enjoyed the book tremendously.

This is a very touching memoir that will have you laughing and crying. The setting of small town rural America often gets lost in the maelstrom of events taking place in our country. It is good to reflect on these people who have earned the description of "salt of the earth." The author has done a great job of taking us back to the child in all of us.
