Easy Magic (Boudreaux Series #5) by Kristen Proby

Family. Responsibility. Stability.

As the co-CEO of Bayou Enterprises, and the eldest of the Boudreaux clan, Beau is the epitome of these. Now that his baby sister Gabby is happily settled down, Beau has moved into the company loft in the heart of the French Quarter to be closer to his office while his own home is built. He doesn't have time for anything but the family he adores and the company that drives him.

If only the bewitching owner of the herb shop downstairs from Beau's loft wasn't so damn tempting.

Mallory Adams is living the life. The good life. The best life for her. After years of hiding who she is, and the gifts she's been cursed with, Mallory opened her little shop in the French Quarter, offering herbs and lotions for anything from soothing a sunburn to chasing those pesky ghosts New Orleans is known for out of a client's home. Some call her eccentric, and some say she's simply odd, and that's okay with her. She is a bit odd, but in her experience, all of the best people are.

When an old pipe bursts in the loft above her store, flooding her storeroom, Mallory comes face to face with Beau Boudreaux, and she doesn't need the clairvoyant abilities that have been passed down through generations to know that she'll never be the same. Beau is her exact opposite; serious, straitlaced. He wears suits for Pete's sake and probably wouldn't know the difference between arnica and flaxseed if his life depended on it. But when he touches her, the electricity is through the roof and she's smart enough to know that a chemistry like theirs doesn't happen every day.

Can two people so very different possibly find their way to happily ever after?

One of the things I love about Kristen Proby books is how each story - even in a series - offers a unique story with characters who have depth and their own idiosyncrasies. Easy Magic did not disappoint! This story offered a wonderful insight into a side of true New Orleans folklore and how it effects modern day love. I am a believer on all things Boudreaux!

I've picked up books different books form Kristen Proby because she's able to write a love story that has a sense of the sweet contemporary love story. Easy Magic is something I had to have in my hands. The moment I seen that Easy Magic was based in New Orleans, I needed it. Something about the Big Easy and the culture that surrounds the city and in turn hopefully the characters just scream at me. Beau & Mallory come from such different backgrounds, almost even polar opposite. Which made the story that much sweeter when they meet one another and can not resist the attraction that draws them closer together. There's a bit of suspense which is great but not to the level where I would say this is a suspense book per say. With a bit of magic in the town known as the Big Easy, the heat between Beau & Mallory grows and will leave you wanting to continue fanning the flames but don't worry, Kristen Proby will do it for you as you turn the pages. 4.5 Magical Stars! “Being touched by Beau is like being touched for the first time in my life, and I never want him to stop.” Easy Magic was a beautiful and unexpected read. This story not only weaves a tale of undeniable romance, but also has an unexpected magical touch. Mallory and Beau’s story brings together all of my favorite romantic elements with a magical twist for one unforgettable romance. I’m pretty sure I fell in love with this story from the moment I picked it up. As soon as I read that prologue, I got a taste of just how truly unique and refreshing this story was going to be. Mallory is a truly special character. Her life has never been easy and the only thing she ever wanted to was to feel normal; even if that meant hiding her true self. When a pipe bursts in the apartment above her store, Mallory’s life will be turned upside down….Beau is always on the go. He only has two priories in life: work and family. He doesn’t have time for much else, but when it comes to Mallory, he is totally smitten. The chemistry between the two of them is intense and just begging to be explored. Beau just has to convince Mallory to take a leap. He knows she’s special and different and will stop at nothing to make her his…. Easy Magic was a quick and easy read for me. This story is told from dual points of view and while it is the fifth book in this series, it can be read as a stand-alone novel. I absolutely adored the setting of this story. I mean how can you not love New Orleans? It was the absolute perfect and inspiring setting for Mallory’s story. I loved Mallory and Beau together. Mallory was such a lovely character. She had a huge heart, and was afraid to let people get close to her because of her differences. But, there was just something about Beau that called to her. He grounded her and made her feel normal. There was so much potential with him, that she would have been a fool to walk away from him. And Beau….such a patient and truly fascinating man. He felt the pull towards Mallory and pursued it with every fiber of his being. I loved how protective and caring he was and the calm that he provided Mallory. Together, these two were just amazing. Their chemistry and tension so palpable. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next with them. Overall, Easy Magic was a really fun and entertaining read. It had everything from unforgettable romance to magical aspects to drama, mystery and suspense. This story had it all and certainly kept me on my toes. And I just loved it! Easy Magic is a wonderful addition to The Boudreaux Series and I look forward to seeing what fun this author has in store for us next.

## DISAPPOINTED. Wow, I loved Declan, Gabby, Eli, and Charly's books. I thought they were phenomenal. This one however left a lot to be desired. Beau deserved a much better story. The paranormal aspect of this book was just bizarre. It took way too much time away from the romance. Pages and pages of dead people lurking in the corners, some relatives. And then the couple would be getting in on right after speaking to the dead nanny or the dead dad. It was awkward to say the least. This one missed the mark for me.
