About the Author

Kay Thomas didn't grow up burning to be a writer. She wasn't even much of a reader until fourth grade. That's when her sister read The Black Stallion aloud to her. For hours Kay was enthralled—shipwrecked and riding an untamed horse across desert sand. Then tragedy struck. Her sister lost her voice. But Kay couldn't wait to hear what happened in the story—so she picked up that book, finished reading it herself, and went in search of more adventures at the local library.

Today Kay lives in Dallas with her husband, two children, and a shockingly spoiled Boston terrier. Her award-winning novels have been published internationally.

Great story! This book may be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading each novel in the order it was written for a true understanding of the overall story line. I have loved reading this series. The action and suspense is very well thought out and all the loose ends are tied up in this book. The action is perfectly paced and any down time is filled with the ever present attraction between Sassy and Bryan. I enjoyed the easy teasing between characters and loved the addition of Bear.  ARC received by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Do yourself a favor and read the previous books in this series first! I didn't and regretted it for two thirds of the book before I could piece the action threads together. If ever a book could NOT be read as a stand-alone from a series, this is the one.

Fiery and intense story, not only from the danger, fear, and uncertainty the characters have, while running for their lives, but from the sexual tension between Sassy and Bryan. Sassy and Bryan have known each other since childhood. And they have had feelings for each other that long as well. Bryan even escaped to military service, to stay away from Sassy and the deep longing he had for her. Now they are back in each others lives, and those old feelings are burning hotter than ever. The action is constant, the web of lies, betrayals, deception, and even treason go deep into the alphabet soup of agencies. Everyone's loyalty is questioned, trust is of high value, even their own team members are under scrutiny. Sassy and Bryan argues, banter, and quarrel about everything. Bryan is convinced that he is not relationship material, because of the hurt and pain that comes along with losing someone you love. Sassy has abrasive attitude, but the roots of that behavior come from teenage trauma she had. The relationship between them is fragile and frail, despite the deep feelings they have for each other. Nonstop life threatening situations, betrayals and deception, lies from a past decade coming to light in an explosive suspense story, mixed with a steamy second chance romance ~ Four Spoons!

4.7 star If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Hard Target (Elite Ops, #1) Personal Target: An Elite Ops Novel (Elite Ops, #2) I enjoyed this book by Kay. This book includes passion, laughs, heartache, kidnappings, murder, betrayal, explosions, car accidents and a few gun fights. Everything you need for a great suspense story!! Sassy was kidnapping while trying to find her brother’s girlfriend.  She will do anything to help her brother get out of jail.  He brother is going to be charged with his girlfriend’s murder if Sassy can’t solve the case.   Bryan is going to rescue his best friend’s sister.  He will get her back home and be able to help in the investigation against his best friend.  But when the bad guys keep finding them he wonders if he can trust anyone.  Can he leave Sassy alone when she needs protection or should he keep her close and allow her to help him investigate what is going on and who is behind the mess they are now involved in.  Can he keep his hands to himself while they are on the run?  Or will they both be taken down and her brother kept in jail for something he is not guilty of?     Lots of twists & turns in this fast paced story. Love Bryan he is sweet and totally alpha. Sassy is funny and stubborn. Love Kay's writing style. She knows how to keep a reader invested in the story. You never know what is going to happen next which keeps you turning the pages until the book is completed!! I recommend this book.

J: This one was definitely not a favorite of mine at all. It was all about the "romance" and the suspense was kind of rediculously complicated. It seemed at times that the urgency of the situation kept taking a back seat. It also seemed like this was a continuation of a previous story that I haven't read; brief references to people and/or events not clearly presented. I pre-ordered this but I am disappointed!

Bryan and Sassy's story picks up where Personal Target left off, so I would highly recommend reading the series in order. Non-stop action and secrets revealed will keep you hooked until the very end, where an unexpected surprise awaits you in the epilogue. I can't wait for to see how the story unfolds in the next book! 4.5 stars ARC via Edelweiss

The action starts on page 1 and continues non stop till 'the end'. Book 3 can be read stand alone from the other two but I highly recommend reading them as well. Sassy is aptly named. Too smart and daring for her own good, she really needs a keeper - and Bryan aka Hollywood is just the man for the job. Chasing a story on human trafficking, she finds herself kidnapped with little hope of escaping. But Sassy is not one to give up without a fight and manages to escape when the truck carrying the latest load has a flat. Bryan is hot on her trail and finds her as she is being mauled by three hoodlums...and that is in the first few pages. Someone very powerful wants Sassy and her storied buried for good and they are not done trying to reach that end. Train wrecks, bombs, drug cartels, car wrecks...and one mastermind determined not to loose the empire he has carefully built. I love Ms. Thomas's writing; her characters are very well developed, her stories fast paced and action filled, the romance hot and the complex storylines deftly woven. Definitely needs to be on your 'favorite author' list. I received an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review. That in no way affects my review.

If you love reading about danger, conspiracies and non-stop action, then you’ll definitely love Easy Target! The story literally begins with action that had me on edge, reading very quickly to find out what happens next. Sassy Smith is a freelance reporter chasing a story from Mexico to Africa, a story that could lead to the exoneration and release of her brother from a Mexican jail, when she gets kidnapped. Her brother’s best friend and former marine, Bryan Fisher, who was already in Africa jumps in to rescue her and now it’s a race against the faceless bad guys to get to safety and figure out what’s going on. Both Sassy and Bryan have been in love with each other for a long time, but Bryan would never betray his best friend by getting involved with his sister but and with the heightened emotions from the danger they both face, keeping their hands off each other becomes increasingly difficult. For me, the fun in reading romantic suspense is the action, mystery, danger and conspiracies and I got all of that in Easy Target. The action really is exciting and so realistic and I loved it! With a mystery that spreads out in several books and a conspiracy that has the characters on their toes as race from continent to continent, Ms. Thomas does a great job keeping the reader engaged. However, I had an issue with the characters. Sassy and Bryan trying to survive danger worked just fine for me, but Sassy and Bryan trying to navigate their love lives did not do it for me. Sassy is very impulsive and stubborn, prone to rushing headlong into situations that put them all in danger. Bryan for the most part was hung up on the fact that he was not good enough for Sassy and could not damage his relationship with her brother by getting involved with her and the resolution of their romance left me wanting more. That in no way takes away from my enjoyment of the book and I’ll say again that Easy Target was a great read. My only advice to any reader is: while each book can be read as a standalone, to get the full experience of the series I recommend reading the books in order (exactly what I should have done!). This is the story of Sassy Smith and Bryan "Hollywood" Fisher. They are both working to clear Sassy's brother Trey's name from a murder he didn't commit. It was fast paced and so very good! Kay Thomas knows how to write. The ending of this book left me wanting more! "The only promise I can make is that I won't hurt you." "I know you won't." And in that moment she believed him. Ahhhh! Swoon! Love Hollywood! This is the 3rd book in The Elite Ops Series but it can be read as a stand alone, it is better if you read the first 2 books first though. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
