Jean Harvey-Berino, Ph.D., R.D., developed the VTrim Weight-Management Program upon which The EatingWell Diet is based. Professor and Chair of the department of nutrition and food science at the University of Vermont, she is an internationally recognized expert of weight loss, obesity and nutrition. A distance runner who has completed seven marathons, Dr. Harvey-Berino lives in Hinesburg, VT.

This book is excellent if you need help getting yourself going on a plan of eating. The first section, a workbook, helps you figure out your readiness to do the diet and then what you need to lose and how to do it. It has tips like how to know the amounts when you don't have measuring tools that are really useful. The next section is a mix and match set of menu plans with calories and pages to find the recipes. The recipes are tasty and beautiful. Each tells preparation time and has calories and nutritional information. I found some really great new things. A good one for the permanent library.
