The book starts intense and continues with the same vigor. I didnt put it down once. We met Grace in book 4, but here we find the true strength in her character. I love that the series has capable women that stand next to their men, rather than behind them. I've also always had a lot of respect for Rio, and this book will show you why. Read them in order. You wont be disappointed.

Love Maya Banks books. Really love this series and I can not wait for the other stories to come out. This series shows how family sticks together and never gives up on each other. Family ties are strong in this family.

## Loved book 1-4 of this KGI series. They were superb. Mind-blowingly amazing. Especially if you read them in order. However, this book (#5) didn't thrill me. The heroine was incapacitated for at least half of the book, it was hard to believe that the hero fell for her. And it felt so repetative. Grace would heal someone, then be sick herself. Over and over. And I didn't feel any chemistry between the lead couple at all, which really disappointed me because the chemistry between all the other KGI couples was breathtaking. That being said, I will always recommend this series and can't wait for PJ and Cole's story. Hopefully followed someday by Joe and Van's story. Maybe even Steele and Terrance!

This is the story of Shea's sister, Grace. She is constantly on the run in order not to be captured, but finally she was. Rio, the head of one of KGI's team volunteered to go after her. He finds her, nurses her back to health. He and his team are escorting Grace to KGI base to have her meet her sister Shea. When the plane lands , an enemy force named Titan kidnaps her. Rio and all KGI rendezvous to bring her back. Good story.

5 star
The story has laughs, suspense, secrets, abuse, pain, grief, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
The Darkest Hour (KGI, #1)
No Place to Run (KGI #2)
Hidden Away (KGI #3)
Whispers in the Dark (KGI #4)
This is Grace and Rio’s story. Rio accepted a mission to find and bring Grace home. Grace is on the run. She knows she can’t contact her sister or the people who had her will capture them both. When she runs into Rio out in the woods he protects and helps her. He keeps her close and safe. Can they work together to figure out who is after them? Can they do it before they are found? When Rio takes Grace to his home he knows she will be safe but when someone betrays that trust will Rio be able to forgive? Grace is a healer but when she heals she takes on the sickness that she heals. When she is tracked down by Hancock to heal a little girl she agrees only if Rio and his team are left alive. Can she trust Hancock? When Grace meets the man who wants his daughter healed she has her own set of demands but what happens when things go wrong? One child is healed but even weak and almost dying she tries to heal again. Will Grace be able to survive the healing or will this be the end of both Grace and Rio.
I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story in this series.

The 5th in the KGI series was Rio.
He was mysterious, sexy, a killer and hero all in one.
Loved him and this book.
Loved meeting Grace and her interaction with Rio.
I enjoyed the secondary characters here too, Titan group, Hancock, Elizabeth.

Overall Rating: 4.45
Action: 4.0 / Emotion: 3.5 / Romance: 5.0 / Sensuous: 3.0 / Suspense: 3.5 // Laughter: 3 / Giggle: 2 // Tears: 0 / Teary: 1
Echoes At Dawn: 4.45:
A totally enjoyable, exciting, one-sitting read. This book was full of romance and sensuality, had some great adventurous action scenes, included some clever twists, and had the reader intrigued, wondering what was going to happen next. What it did not include, however, was a lot of interaction featuring the Kelly brothers and their families.
Hero: 4.5:
Eduardo Bezerra, known to everyone as Rio: a hunky, tough, handsome, hero, who revealed the tender side of his personality. A multi-dimensional hero who felt real because Banks gave him a background story.
Heroine: 4.5:
Grace Peterson: it was easy to warm up to Grace as she went from being a battered, bruised, ready to give up heroine, to one who was strong enough to face down two overwhelmingly strong-willed, determined men.
Story Line: 4.0:
Banks seems to follow the same formula in this series of books. First, she opens the books with an exciting action scene to draw one into the story. Second, she takes the hero and heroine off someplace quiet and safe so they can spend time together. Third, she includes an unexpected twist in the story to surprise readers. Fourth, she includes an action-packed finale featuring the KGI teams. Then fifth, she closes with lackluster details about how the characters are going to eventually end up with their happily-ever-after.
Action: 4.0:
Banks included several exciting, adventurous, daring action scenes. The kind of action scenes that should be present in a Military Romantic Suspense book.
Emotion: 3.5:
It was easier to develop a bit of an emotional connection to Rio and Grace because they were developed to a degree that made them feel real. Banks succeeded in causing one to burst out in laughter and experience some throat-tightening moments.
Romance: 5.0:
Banks wrote some wonderful passages that described the deep romantic connection that developed between Rio and Grace.
Sensuous: 3.0:
As expected, Rio and Grace make love in the hot, spicy, graphic way that Banks favors.
Suspense: 3.5:
Although not extremely edgy, a degree of suspense kept the reader turning the pages to see what was going to happen next.
Secondary Characters: 3.5
Banks included some new secondary characters (and an entity) that really drew great interest: {1} Gordon Farnsworth, {2} Elizabeth Farnsworth, {3} Hancock and {4} Titan. The inclusion of previously-introduced secondary characters added a richer flavor to the story: {1} Terrence, {2} Mitch Browning, {3} Diego, {4} Decker, {5} Alton, {6} Sam Kelly, {7} Nathan Kelly, and {8} Adam Resnick. Brief appearances of several recurring characters were included in the book: {1} Garrett Kelly, {2} Donovan Kelly, {3} Joe Kelly, {4} Swanny, {5} Steele, {6} P.J. Rutherford, {7} [David] "Cole" [Coltrane], and {8} Kyle Phillips. The rest of the Kelly family was trotted out in the last chapter of the book to be introduced to Grace.

Grace Peterson is desperate, afraid, and in hiding. She's on the run after escaping a shadowy group determined to exploit her extraordinary ability to heal others. Her only lifeline—the telepathic ability she shares with her sister Shea—has been severed, leaving her alone and vulnerable. Pain has long since lost any meaning to her. Her spirit broken from the horrors inflicted upon her. She'd rather die than endure more from the men who now relentlessly pursue her. But if she dies, she’ll die running. She’ll die fighting. Because she refuses to die as a science experiment in some laboratory.
When Grace disappeared, Rio knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he would be the one to go after her and bring her home safe and alive. He and his team have tracked her movements certain they’re close to finding her, leaving no stone unturned in their search. When in the mountains of Colorado, her voice whispers through his mind—broken and damaged, swamping him with memories of all she’s endured. Desolation. Pain. Fear. Hopelessness. And at her lowest point, Rio appears fiercely determined to protect her from those who nearly destroyed her. And in him, Grace finds a safe haven, and for the first time ... hope.
The fifth installment of the KGI series wasn't entirely unexpected falling upon the heels of Whispers in the Dark, but simply not what I desire in a KGI novel. Once again, I'm somewhat disappointed by the sudden supernatural twists being thrown into an otherwise straight-forward military romantic suspense series. For me, it renders the story into something unbelievable—science fiction. While not a series favorite, Echoes at Dawn is a well-written, suspenseful read of torment, despair, compassion, healing, and love, with a satisfying HEA.
