There was a year's delay before this film, which concerns the mysterious death of a fictional '60s rock star, took off via video and cable TV, but when it did, the soundtrack album, featuring such songs as "On the Dark Side" and "Tender Years" by John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band, took off with it. To most, the songs sounded like Bruce Springsteen clones, but the music was appealing nonetheless.

What a disappointment! It started out as a great soundtrack album, but now it's been hacked to pieces. What's the deal here? I'm glad I held on to the old vinyl LP, the ORIGINAL soundtrack!
The disc I just received is not the original (I have the original LP) and does not match you track listing here. #2 "Mockingbird) from your listing is replaced with "Tender Years" on my disc and track 5 is missing altogether (all subsequent tracks are off by 1 number). What gives? Don't you have quality control? Very disappointed....
Michael Pare and John Cafferty made ''Eddie Wilson''. The lyrics and tough guy and passion made the movie ''Eddie and the Cruisers'' Great, we all who have experienced eddie will always remember how great of depth his heart for music was unreachable.
I finally found a version of the Original soundtrack on CD! Including the seemingly lost Tender Years and Wild Summer Sights! It's on the Volcano Label. Haven't been able to find it on-line, but it showed up a local University bookstore. 5 stars for original soundtrack line-up!
I was very disappointed that Tender Years was not on this soundtrack and aside from "On the Dark Side" this is a bunch of filler fluff.
Despite the mediocrity of the movie EDDIE AND THE CRUISERS, which is about the mysterious disappearance of a rock star who'd recently become a serious artist by combining rock & roll with French Symbolist poetry (in 1963!), the soundtrack has many great songs by John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band that follow a Bruce Springsteen/Bob Seger style of straight-ahead rock, plus two songs that feature the band (sans Cafferty) backing oldies singer Kenny Vance. True, the album doesn't really equal the originality of Springsteen's and Seger's work, but it draws on their styles to result in an experience that will keep you on your feet dancing all night.
Great Movie and Outstanding Music. A must see movie. And a must have CD.
